yes, that guy.

Instead the police is busy searching a hotel of a team of riders that at best would climb Zoncolan 5 minutes slower than the new cycling idol.

Uh, so what new limits would the guy who beat his time by 2 minutes a few years be setting?

I mean Contador won the stage...oops, that's right he didn't even have the fastest time up the stage. Yet he's the one setting "inhumane new limits?"

Seriously wtf? Let's have a serious discussion here.

If you're going to search RadioShack, do it at the ToC. Machado isn't exactly tearing up the race. Meanwhile a couple of borderline senior citizen bald guys crushed the field up Mt. Baldy.

Well USADA would have done but the UCI decided to renege on the idea of them doing the testing.

Whatever dude. regardless of the words you decided to nitpick, Radioshack are way low on the list of teams that should be searched in this Giro.

whilst i agree with you about baldies on Baldy, they didn't care about the little piglets :D

In the 'Super Teams' classification, Radioshack are 21st with only BMC below them. 14th out of 22 in the other team classification.

Quite a good idea i suppose having people stay at the hotel who can keep an eye on what people get up to - when the uniformed police arrive see what they do, etc.

If they are searching for dope, it makes sense to start with the riders who failed dope tests most recently. Particularly if they happen to be leading the GC at a GT.

From a Sports Illustrated article...

RadioShack team physician Nino Danieli tells the Cycling News website that police questioned him and searched the team vehicles but did not find anything.

Reached by the AP at the team hotel in Falcade in northeastern Italy, RadioShack team manager Viatcheslav Ekimov says he didn't see what went on: "By the time I came I (found) everyone healthy and without problems, so I guess nothing happened.''

I can just picture Eki with his hands on his hips, shrugging and looking to the sky as he gave that statement. "What?? Who me?"

Hey where did RadioShack rate on the UCI's index of suspicion at last year's Tour?

How many of those same guys are at the Giro, just Popo whilst more of them are at California. I agree searching them at the Giro ahead of other teams is senseless unless there is some specific rider/thing they are after.

As you said if they want to chase the Shack, do it at California.

My own guess would have to be that it has to do with Popo, since the search probably had to do with the Ferrari-case and the fact that Popo his laptop and phones were seized (the multiple phones that were seized make even more sense since the Hamilton interview) and I guess this search of Popo's house had to do with the Ferrari investigation

Yep, you make a good point.

While The Shack and BMC are performing rather poorly, their doping pedigree still keeps them on the radar, I guess.

The ToC raised some eyebrows. When you have Busche, Horner, and Leipheimer dropping Schleck...hmmm....

It wasn't even that what was most suspicious. Rather the complete ownage of some guy named Matthew Busche who dropped virtually everyone except Horner/Leipheimer before he dropped off.
Don't know what they gave him but it worked

yeah, exactly.
the guy who makes it rather easy to see on which days he transfused and on which he didn't.

p.s. no new limits in this Giro, but new limits in terms of what he's capable of riding AND WINNING in one frikkin season.
If he rides this year's tour, believe me, he wins it.
If that's humane to you...against a doped-up peloton.

Yep, it was not so much Horner/Leipheimer but the performance of Busche, a relatively unknow guy goes to the front and drops every single rider except his two team-mates. Not even Heras who was a top, top climber could do that.

To be fair to Busche he was an All American NCAA Cross Country runner before making the switch to cycling. So he probably has some natural endurance ability. Having said that he will no doubt be loaded to the gills.

As far as the hotel search goes...
I'm guessing that it was not random. They had something specific they were there for, otherwise why waste time at the Shack over any other team that is performing at an alarming level in this race.

Busche's performance was rather hilarious. Suddenly, there were 3 Shack guys and nobody else. This is in a field that included Andy Schleck, among others. Sutherland must have been like "WTF?".

Busche was 6 minutes behind on the Sierra Road stage.

Andy Schleck is rarely a good climber at this time of year. Look at his previous late-spring performances.

He manages to get better by the time the Tour rolls around.

It's one thing to not be on top form, but it's entirely another thing to be getting dropped by a 2nd year relative unknown guy and two guys pushing 40.

It's not fair for Popo. He's just managed to get a new phone and a laptop and now they take them away too... :(

BTW maybe the presence of the testers in the hotel prevented the Shack riders from refueling?
