How good was AGR?

I wasn't too disappointed with it. Move by Voeckler and others early in the race was nice, but never really thought it would amount to that much. And I was pretty happy with the winner and how he one. Very powerful attack to just fly away from everyone.

The race unfolded more or less how I was expecting it to unfold, so I give it an 8.

It was just above average thanks to Voeckler and GVA. For me +1 cause Phil won

Gave it a six, but my expectations for AGR are generally low.
A hundred man strong peloton chasing the poor attackers with 25-30km to go just can't work out well.

Voted a 6. Overall a dissapointment but pleased to see Gilbert winning again. Looked like he was unbeatable today.

I really thought this race was going to be awesome for a sec when Voeckler went with like 40km or something and he got a bunch of good riders. But yeah, the only moments of excitement was seeing the names that joined Voeckler and then in the end Gilbert beating his record up the Cauberg + Vanendert coming very fast out of nowhere.

So 3/10 for me. If AGR is nothing more than a sprint up the Cauberg it's basically FW, but with a more boring hill......

Bring back the old course please. With all due respect, Michael Matthews isn't supposed to get close to the top-10 in an Ardennes classic.

At least here the strong riders dared attacking 40kms from the finish. The Kruisberg-Eyserbosch-Keutenberg section was good to watch, but it could've been better if the chasing group had a better coöperation. The two-stage BMC missile up the Cauberg made up for that, a plan that worked out perfectly.

7/10; not the most entertaining race ever, but it exceed the expectations. And arguably better than some monuments and semi-classics this year.

You're underestimating Matthews' climbing capabilities. And what about Freire finishing top 10 on the old course? It's the same IMO.

The AGR has always been the perfect classic to have punchers, climbers, rouleurs, stage racers and strong sprinters fight for the win. Look at the top 10 here. There's GT podiums mixed up with podiums at the Ronde, LBL and MSR.

The race was better with Keutenberg in the last 10k.Now,Cauberg is the only decisive climb and everything comes to a sprint there.

I'm happy with the winner and how he won. It's been a while for Gilbert....I'm happy for him. Hopefully he'll continue to do well. BMC needs the success. I'll give the race a 7.

GVA didn't take a single pull in the first 10 kms. Birdsong pulled for like 100 metres. The only one going full gas from the get-go was Voeckler.

Most of them were in the break with the sole purpose of sparing their teammates to chase.

Yeah without Titi half the races would be twice as boring. He's awesome and was the only good thing about this race.

The thing with this race is that not only very little happens, you know there is a 95% chance everything that happens before the last 3km will be futile. People like to bash MSR, but that race is a lot more varied in the way riders win.

3/10 here as well, even the final ascent wasn't exciting.
