Boring GC battle, not very good battles for Green or Polka either, but quite a lot of good stages in my eyes:
Stage 1: Echelons, Remco and a bunch of other secondary GC riders got dropped. Good stuff.
Stage 2: MvdP beat Pogacar. Cool battle.
Stage 3: Classic sprint stage, meh.
Stage 4: Very cool steep hill just before finish. MvdP lost sprint against Pogacar. Not a bad stage.
Stage 5: TT with wind. Evenepoel won, Pogacar good, Visma bad. Not bad action for a TT stage isolated, but decided much of the GC battle already.
Stage 6: Good breakaway stage with an insanely strong break. Long solo, so not very intenense excitement for the win, but impressive still. MvdP taking back yellow with 1s, that was exciting.
Stage 7: Pogacar easy. A bit of a dull stage and Almeida crashed.
Stage 8: Bit of a strange sprint stage, but yeah a pretty boring sprint stage.
Stage 9: MvdP and Rickart made a boring sprint stage very exciting.
Stage 10: Great breakaway stage with a good battle for the stage win and Healy taking yellow.
Stage 11: A really great breakaway stage with a superstrong second break of MvdP, WVA etc almost catching up. Superclose sprint a deux for the win. Great stuff. Pogacar crashed, not great but luckily no impact on the race.
Stage 12: Tour over. Pogacar demolition. Insanse first 3-4 kilometers of Hautacam. A bit meh from an entertainment POV.
Stage 13: MTT. Not really a fan of that concept. No excitement about stage win, the most exciting things were speculations about equipment. Meh..
Stage 14: Great breakaway win from Arensman. Johannessen in the break as a GC threat (not for podium) made it also a bit interesting. Generally a decent stage.
Stage 15: Quite an interesting break stage until Wellens got the gap. Bit underwhelming.
Stage 16: Pretty epic stuff on Ventoux with the very intenste breakaway battle where Politt went nuts, then a small break with some strong climbers in Mas and Arensman getting a gap on the big break into Ventoux. Then Mas solo for a long time, then the games between Healy and VPP. Behind there were also some proper attacks from Vingegaard. This stage was absolutely brilliant.
Stage 17: Lame sprint stage with big crash.
Stage 18: Strong break with Roglic and Gall, full attacks on Madeleine then the very strange stuff in the valley. Lipowitz attack turned out to be stupid, but it was for a while very interesting. Great solo win by O'Connor and Onley made the battle for third looking very interesting. Honestly a great stage .
Stage 19: Shortened which ruined a bit, but Roglic made a fun attack, there were some intersting dynamics for the lower GC placements with Uno-X dropping Vaquelin and the last climb was pretty intersting with the Arensman attack, Vingegaard and Pogacar trying to make each other lose and the battle of third lived well into the final 3 kilometers with a lot of people giving Onley a good chance to drop Lipo based on what happened the day before. Arensman managed to stay away. All in all a pretty good stage, even if it is always a disappointment when the best riders are holding back.
Stage 20: Interesting break, "Gr. Jegat" and all that. Some good break action with Sweeneys attack, the stupidity of Wellens/Jorgenson and then the stupidity of Stewart/Vandenbroeck. Great win from Groves, good stage.
Stage 21: Neutralization of not, the final 40-50 kilometers were great entertainment. Not a fan of Wout, but very impressed by his attack and Pogacar rode like a true Champion. Great stage!
