Whats missing for me?

- Cobbles

You have a passage of cobblestones which is flooded twice a day by the Atlantic Ocean in the first stage

This is kind of weird though:

22 Juli: 19. Etappe, Modane - L'Alpe d'Huez, 109 km

That seems really short to me

But they won't actually race on it, will they? More like a parade if I got it right.

For the rest, except for the lesser number of ITT miles, it seems like the normal TdF to me. So voted 6 or 7. Sure nothing to get really excited about.

Not exactly sure on that, but last time they did it the result was a massive pile-up and the end of Alex Zülle's GC chances

They did it half way into the stage, this time it's in the neutral zone.

Voted 4. Would be a good one week race. First two weeks might work at the Giro or Vuelta, but yet again they're engineering a showdown at the end by ensuring that the first two weeks are more or less irrelevant as nobody important will lose more than a minute.

Maybe I'll pretend it's a French version of the Tour de Suisse, not watch the first two weeks, and then I'll not think it's as rubbish as it is. No wait, actually that's the Dauphiné. And that will probably still be better than the last week of this Tour.

I voted 6. These are my reasons:

Pros:
- Included Alpe d'Huez in the alps.
- Included Luz Ardiden and Plateau de Belle.

Cons:
- TTT
- Real mountains too far from the start of the race.
- Aubisque stage is a waste. Sould have put one more mountain and closer to the finish.
- Two medium mountains to compensate for the lack of mountains in the first 10 days is silly.
- Not enough mountains. Again Aubisque is a waste and Serre-Chevalier is too soft.

I voted an 8.

I expect the riders will make it an 6, but that's not because of the stages.

Biggest flaw is the TTT. They are fun, but imo they always totally mess up the GC unless the best GC riders are in the weaker teams which usually isn't the case except for 1 or 2 poor souls.
TTT should've been ITT.

ACF: Title should've been "What do you think of TDF route 2011". And then since you created this poll you will be the first one to reply so you can call it crap, retared or whatever you want to call it in the first post.

WTF Prudhomme, why is it that you don't like ITT's?

Sometime in the first 10 flat stages they could do a 40-50k flattish TT. I have no problem with the TTT, especially since they kept it short (<30k) but can't understand why they wouldn't want bigger time gaps going in to the Pyrenesse to make attacking by climbers who lost time early and need to make up big gaps before the final ITT.

That would animate the race so much more because the climbers couldn't sit on wheels and hope to attack in the final 3k of the HTF stages to get a 30 s gap ahead of the ITT in the end.

I rate it as a 6 with 10 being the biggest fail possible.

is this fail so 1 is a good tour, 10 is a fail tour
or are we rating it out of ten so ten is good and one is bad?

im confused by the question

I agree. WTF is this poll asking? IMO this is a good, maybe great, Tour route. So it is probably not going to be a flop. I like the mountain stages, like the return of the TTT, no prologue, and like the fact they will not be racing over the Passage du Gois.

thats because in his race to be the first poster ever to post a post tour presentation recycled news thread ausrecyclingfan's thread title failed. which happens too often to call epic however

maybe a longer ITT would suffice. If the mountain stages allegedly suit AS then clearly they suite AC as well if not by a minute better should he ride

Well since ACF voted it a 2 after complaining about the route in the presentation thread, i figure 1 is the for the biggest fail and 10 is for the best route.

You can lay out the most diverse & challenging parcours, but at the end is up to the riders to make the race exiting--therefore this thread is useless & stupid

People, I did not make this because of Evans. The past 3 routes haven't really given guys who are strong time triallers and decent climbers a chance to win. Also, the ttt should never be included in the overall classification, why does a team discipline count to a inidividual classification? I made it because I usually do these types of threads and why can't you take my opinion with merit on this topic instead of just making snide remarks at me.

Oh OK can I vote again then?

I thought the vote was on how epic of a failure it was, so I voted 3 because I thought it was hardly a failure to begin with.

My new vote: 8.

The 2009 route gave people who could do a good TT and not climb for toffee a chance to win. It would have been a good year for Evans if the TTT had been an ITT and he'd had any form whatsoever.

Probably a fair statement. Still think there should be a 50km flat tt put around Super besse.

Yeh this poll is a complete screw up, because rating how much of a fail it is implies that if its a massive fail you give it a ten. Its like the poll is asking how much does the tour route suck on a scale of 1 to 10, not the other way around.

I think you should start again acf.

These polls are really being screwed up this week.

Asking who the best climber of the 2000ds was but, no Armstrong. (on the other hand Leonardo Piepoli is included in both 90s and 2000s list)

Asking who the best Spanish climber is (bar Contador). Options given - Samu, Purito and LLS  No Sastre, Valverde, Mosquera.

Asking who had the best season, with no Nibali on offer.

Asking how big a fail the Tour is, but then saying that it is actually, how great the Tour is, after people have voted.
