Rider amnesia

What would be nice would be to see which riders are jumping ship on Armstrong (ie Rev David Millar) and who are the true loyalists. It would also be good to see who are the opportunists - to compare David Millar's comments about Armstrong across the years with his view now. It seems to me that many riders either suffer from amnesia or think that cycling fans have a two second memory.

Fellow Brit Steve Cummings, who rides for BMC Racing, and like Dowsett, is competing in the Tour of Beijing, pointed out Armstrong had done a great deal for charity.

He said: "It is easy to say and point your finger on all the bad things but you could look at the good things he has done as well.

"He has done a lot good things, like his cancer charity, you know. When I met him, he was a nice guy to me."

If you were in the tour of Beijing, you wouldn't have had time to read it all either. The guy is 23 and is saying that what LA did is of no relevance to him or cycling just now. He's also saying Lance is a legend. One might agree or disagree with some of what he says, for different reasons, but give the kid a break!
BTW: certainly not well advised...I can't imagine anyone in USPS making such a stupid off the cuff comment...maybe a sign that Sky don't control their team as tightly?

Past is past, but never ever ever say that doping doesn't/didn't matter.

Even if that's what you genuinely believe.

If you don't want to look dodgy, the sensible response would be to come out and lambast what Armstrong and his teams did.

They are all either ignorant, or just don't care.

or in controlled denial, someone on another thread meantion those on reduced programs would just ignore or in some cases be more vocal about fellow pros getting caught. Doesnt bode well really.......

Lance Armstrong still has some support among riders in elite cycling despite a damning report by the US Anti-Doping Agency that detailed testimony from 26 witnesses, including 11 former teammates.


Samuel Sanchez, the 2008 Olympic road race champion, is among those supporting the American rider.

In a Spanish language television interview with The Associated Press before today's third stage of the Tour of Beijing, the Euskaltel-Euskadi rider says, "Until the contrary is proved, he remains innocent. Lance has overcome many controls and even until today he has never been found positive in any of them."

USADA released vivid details of the doping accusations, portraying Armstrong as a man who spared nothing to win the Tour de France seven times. The agency has ordered that Armstrong be stripped of those titles.
