WinterRider said:Well that's the final nail in the coffin on Voigt for me. What an idiot. He is either completely clueless as to what Armstrong has done, or he was doing it himself too.
trompe le monde said:I wonder if those who quite bizarrely threw their support behind Lance once the USADA report came out, such as Alejandro Valverde and Samuel Sanchez, have now changed their minds?
I wouldn't say he did, really. He now acknowledges Armstrong is guilty, but he's still sticking to his talking points. It's just the goalposts have inevitably moved.Arnout said:Sanchez did at last yes.
"He admitted everything was a lie. He was done in by his ambition, that's what he says, but I want to look forward to the future, not to the past. What's damaged is the image of that era of cycling, but this one's completely different. If anyone feels wronged, they should do what they must."
The Asturian rider said he doesn't "approve nor disapprove" of the confession because "that's up to [Lance]"
"He's confessed and now we'll see what consequences that brings about. It's a difficult situation for the sport. Those of us who are still riding must look forward and let the past be water under the bridge," requested the Asturian rider, who emphasized that cycling had changed since Armstrong's times
"We're scrutinized 24/7 by the UCI, WADA, the Spanish Federation, the IOC... I'm so tired of saying time and time again that our whereabouts are known and we're controlled at all times. Any doubts anyone might have about cycling are sufficiently dispelled, I think"

I've read that Lance said that Hincapie knows his story better than the others, and still they speak on the phone once a week

Says Compared to USPS Festina was small.
Thinks there isn't much Omerta in cycling compared to other sports.
Tells the cliche 'Cycling has evolved now, it is much cleaner:
Deagol said:I doubt that Lance "I was protecting the interests of the Peloton" Armstrong will be called out by the peloton, based on their "shock" at these accusations. A very beleivable bunch, indeed
The laws must be changed so that the punishment for doping is imprisonment. That's how you get rid of doping. You'd see, when the doctor came to stick a needle in a rider's arms, the rider would just say: "Stick it up your ****"

So Lance knew of 5 riders who didn't dope and Manzano adds two Juanmi Cuenca, & Santi Blanco or are they in the 5?
A good day for Manzano, his story is fully vindicated now. I was always surprised the Governing body didn't use his information to bust others.
Unzue said Blanco would win the 2000 Tour de France, but I imagine he believed he'd get him in the program before that. When he couldn't live up to the expectations, people would belittle him, saying he was nothing but an eternal hopeful who had stagnated completely.pmcg76 said:Santi Blanco!!! that guy had some decent results during the EPO era for a guy who wasn't apparently doping. I know Blanco and Casero were considered as the next big things in Spain when they came on the scene, I guess Casero was the one who won a GT.

pmcg76 said:Agree....that's what I meant by saying that Casero was the one who went on to win a GT.
If Blanco was truly clean, it helps gives us a better idea of what was possible for a clean rider during the EPO era which might be more than previously thought.
It also makes a mockery of the "he rode for team X or Y so definitely doped" agenda. Just adds some more perspective to the overall picture.
If clean, Blanco was definitely a rider who lost out to the likes of Armstrong and co.
