Turner had decent sprinting legs in Pologne, but they'll probably sacrifice him for Laurance.

Quick Step just played this day perfectly. Magnier in the break as a favorite there, they didn't have to do anything and then in the end they still had like 4 riders for Merlier.

Pretty good sprint from De Lie too. Definitely has confidence. A few boni seconds, could be important at the end of the week

3 hours 40 minutes at as near damn it 50km/h - sweaty work, but chapeau Merlier and QS. De Lie a 2nd place so he must be feeling better. (QS as I've said before, might well come out the winners in the Remco deal)

Are there any cobbled stages this year?

Friday, Geraardsbergen stage, the one where De Lie beat Wellens last year, but with more flat kilometers between the hills so a bit more controlled I fear. With Van der Poel here you never know tho.

Merlier won as expected, however, they surprise is how well positioned he was with a km to go. I doubt he went full!

It's obviously nitpicking because they rode a great race but imo the day would have been perfect for Quick Step if Magnier also managed to take some boni seconds at the golden km because I think on this parcours he can have a shot at GC.

I agree he (and some others like Del Grosso, Stuyven, etc in that group) made a pretty big mistake there.

Damn, I got worried there for a sec!
I turned on the stream... and there was a bunch of riders on the ground...
Then I realised the stream had just started, and it was a recap from yesterday.

Broadcasting the same stage again would fit the recycling theme.

Again not enough wind to really make something happen.

Lotto and Astana are trying tho. Some splits now. Van der Poel at the back.

This could be interesting if there's enough strong teams in the front group. It's a big too big to ride together.

Both Van der Poel and Wellens missed it. Front group is riding well together now.

Not many teams without representation which leaves FDJ and Movistar with 1 guy each bringing it back.

Yeah Cofidis, Movistar, Tietema and FDJ aren't going to do it. Van der Poel doesn't really seem to care about GC (but have also not Del Grosso in it so they should start riding). UAE doesn't have Wellens in it, but does have Vermeersch and Oliveira.

Visma seems to have missed it again tho. Basically same teams as yesterday.
