No surprise here: David Gaudu is the next French hope, superb rider. Can he make it to the next level? Be more than a Barguil? How will he develop? I hope he rides the Giro in support for Tibopino and gains experience. Then, Vuelta and a stage?

You want him to ride two GT's in his first season as a neo-pro and before he turns 21?

I don't know. Maybe he can ride the Tour inbetween as well?

The TdF for Gaudu would make some sense. Go for a stage win, but what would happen next is terrifying: he would become the next "chouchou" of the French public, then the circus begins...yikes :surprised: .

I could imagine the Giro with Pinot as a learning opportunity or the Vuelta with Reichenbach. Even then, that's far fetched. True that Madiot will protect him.

He just turned 20. I've made up my mind. You know what makes sense? Not riding any GT next year. Go stage hunting in Pais Vasco or in the Dauphine. Maybe ride Liege. Fill up the rest with smaller races. First GT can wait a year I think. Vuelta used to be a great place to start. Now it doesn't seem like that.

You're right, baring injury and a last minute entry. But I'm all pumped up and over-excited . I hope that French cycling will be back where it belongs in '17 (that is at the top of the World ) and I truly think that he's special...I can't wait.

Hoping for Nans to light it up in races like Tour de L'Ain and Aurelien Paret-Peintre to consolidate in the U23-races.
