No former dopers allowed at the National Champs, Ricco suspended... some good signs coming from the FCI. To be continued, I hope.

Well, that didn't take long. Welcome to Limboville. Population: Riccò and Mosquera.
That's the thing, I suspect they pulled this out of their *** just because Riccò is so notable and such an easy target. Citing vague health concerns basically allows them to suspend anyone.python said:poor ricco. can't get it right no matter how much he tries.
i'd be interested in more details of the 'health' suspension.
was it the usual blood work anomaly or lack of proper tue or what else ?
iirc, ricco had always owned a permit for higher than 50% hct...was that the reason ?

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm on record here saying I don't want Riccò to return, ever, both for the good of cycling and especially for his own good. But it's very suspicious that they only thought of suspending him for health concerns the moment he found a new team. It sounds to me like they can't legally do anything to him, but they don't want him racing so they pull something like this to keep him in a legal limbo at least until the investigation is completed. The problem is the same as with BMC, Ballan and Santambrogio. Everyone knows what's going on, but cycling doesn't have the legal means to do anything about it, and both BMC and Riccò want to take advantage of it.Bye Bye Bicycle said:Hanging around half-dead after another failed blood transfusion - very vague, I see.
A lot of people here are just waiting for the next dead pro, it seems.

Personal use of heroin is not in the same legal category as doping in Italy. We've been over this, and apparently the doctor had the legal obligation of telling the authorities. A better analogy would be getting admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound - the doctors would have to report that.spalco said:Even if it's just a technicality, I still don't understand why the doctor had any right to tell anybody that Ricco said he ****ed up a blood transfusion. If someone gets admitted to hospital with for example a heroin overdose do the doctors call the police too in Italy?
