editor in chief?? Thats a bit out of left field.

That is simply a forum user "title" and has nothing to do with the news section of the website.

Susan

As Susan has said it is a forum title that each person has when they sign up and stays with you for about 10(?) posts i believe. Then you graduate to Junior member and once you hit 100(?) posts you become a senior member

I'm happy that Ricco is on the road to recovery.

I'm happier that he's (hopefully) out of the sport. It is a shame though to see talent wasted.

not a joke at all.

some of us have compassion for a man who almost died. and, much as you are towing the line that it was his own stupidity that caused it, it is all just hearsay -- we don't know what happened.

and your choice of quoting the Frank Sinatra song is quite distasteful. Ricco may have been released from the hospital, but an infection of the heart is never not serious. the complications can linger and/or leave permanent damage.

i hope he does fully recover.

and i will miss him on the bike, too. he was one of a handful of characters that was never dull to watch. with Ricco, anything could happen and it often did.

Look I certainly don't wish anyone to die from an act brought on by their own stupidity. I hope he learns from it and moves on with his life....just not in cycling.

He wasn't a "character" he was disliked in the peloton as an arrogant prat. Not only that but I am amazed that you seem oblivious to the fact that the "anything could happen" aspect that you apparently will miss was due solely to the fact that he was riding doped up to the gills otherwise he would have been just bunch fodder.

As to my choice of song....I think it as quite poignant and pretty close to the mark.

Finally...As to not knowing what happened, the fact that he has been fired by his team would indicate that it may be hearsay to you but apparently not to them. Towing the line...lol

No joke... Saying that Riccó is a doper and the peloton is clean is just stupid... I'd prefer to see 19827318273918273918273 times a jerk like Riccó who always gave spectacle and made lots of attacks than an idiot "mama's boy" like Andrew or people like Wiggo (who never attacks) or The pope (although He's a great rider is rly boring to see) and like them many more...

But anyway... even If he is cleared of the charges He will be blacklisted...

I wasn't aware that I made any mention of the peloton being clean or even inferred it.

So you like jerks who dope and inject tainted blood...good for you. I'll pass thanks.

the saga continues, this time i hope nothing bad will ever happen to him again.

“At the moment Riccò hasn’t been found guilty of anything and so just like other riders it's right that he’s allowed to race again. The UCI has given him a licence and so he will ride the Tour of Serbia. After that he’ll probably ride the Trofeo Matteotti in Italy and other races. We’ve been contacted by organisers in Germany, France and Portugal, who all want Riccò in their races.”

so which races these might be?
maybe some chances to see riccardo in volta a portugal?there is no doubt that ricco still attracts publicity and you might hate to hear it,but he still has fans.

To be honest I'm glad to see him back. He has a horrific attitude, but is probably only as juiced as the rest of them, and hey, he's entertaining. The kind of rider you hate to love... :D

I love it too. if the imminent death of the doctor who screwed him over by dishonoring his own code of law isn't proove enough for the fact that ricco must never be suspended again I don;'t know what is. god punishes ricco's enemy's

Yes, an expert doctor who was helping the police out. Not the doctor that helped Ricco and who Ricco admitted his blood doping story to. 61 years old, hardly a surprise.

This doctor was a professor at an Italian university at the Emilia regio.

I was hoping he would get a chance to defend his victory in the Tour of Austria, but I doubt they'll invite a foreign Continental Team even with Ricco in it.

Would be great publicity as a large number of Riccos enemies will be at the Tour as commentators, riders, ds's and some might be unable to hold themselves back.

They can't. They're a .HC race. The only Continental teams they can invite are Austrian ones.

I mean Ricco vs Rasmussen is a TDF duel :D

Balkan is very mountainous. So Serbia must have some mountains? I'm guessing in the south of the country because of that other little dumb mountainous country on the southern border whose name I forgot.

Or is the Tour of Serbia not going to mountains?

Serbia has mountains, mostly in the south. It's nothing like as mountainous as Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania around it, and I don't know if they'd want to use some of the areas in and around Kosovo. Still, enough to make a half decent route if they want to.

Every edition since 2007 goes to Bosnia and town Pale, where Winter Olympics 1984 were held.

Also there is a two or three hilly stages in Serbia. The race finishes in capital Belgrade.

Are they really both going to be in the ToS? Definitely going to have to watch it for that battle. Just wish I was watching it at the tour instead. My two favorite riders going at it!

Good to see him back in the peloton. That's exactly the right place for people which such obvious clinic-related problems. Yeah, can't wait to see him finally lying dead in some obscure motel room. Entertaining 'til the end, right?

his italian style is cray cray!! he is quite the personality, i hope to see him return to big time racing ASAP. maybe he can finally learn to dope like a real pro and not get caught or kill himself! if he returns to the big time and gets some big results, i will finally be happy with this sport, i will completely give up on hoping it becomes clean, and just accept it for the spectacle that it is.
