This has nothing to do with justice. Based on these facts he should be free to race like Contador! Of course he's guilty, but they need to present real facts to suspend him. It can't be that theres just hard action against him, while these spanish *******s Contador and Valverde are allowed to win gt's with a smile on their dirty faces. I'm sure in Spain he would not even get banned for his Cera use, because it was just prooved by a unsure urine sample test not by a blood sample. At least this is a shame for justice...

Yea, that's right, of course, it's Spain's fault, yet again. I mean, Italy is totally blameless in the fight against doping. I mean, they've only handed Danilo di Luca a farcical 3 month offseason ban then had him come back early from his second offence. They've only got Davide Rebellin riding again and Sinkewitz repeat-offending on an Italian team, and Ivan Basso being lionised and Vincenzo Nibali allegedly training with Michele Ferrari.

No, Italy's absolutely fine, it's those Spaniards you have to look out for...

Why the hell do we have to drag Spain into this? Spain has nothing to do with this. Besides, last time I checked Valverde was banned, and Ezequiel Mosquera hasn't been charged but is sitting in limbo and has been for the last nine months.

His point about Piti is a very good one once you think about it.

On-topic, CONI is being pretty brave here. I'd hate for them to be wrong...

This is assuming that what CONI has placed in the public domain is the entire basis of what Riccò has been banned for, of course.

There could be further information that has not been released due to confidential reasons for all we know. All we're doing is slinging mud around based on a picture that looks unfinished and trying to judge just how finished it is.

I dunno, it seems a bit precautionary. FCI says he is not healthy enough, CONI says that he attempted doping which given his history should have been enough for a life ban.

Did the CONI hearing that was postponed from March happen? (I might have missed it though). If it did it ended up with nothing until Ricco decided to return.

Are the analysis complete? Not yet as far as I can tell.

I'd like to think that CONI didn't ban Ricco because they felt like it and wanted to look good, but then I don't know if it's possible to ban a rider simply based on the report from the prosecutor, maybe CONI has that power.

It could be that they didn't feel the need to sanction him as long as he was away from the sport, so they could just investigate quietly, but once he decided to return they had to act quickly based on what analyses they already had, subject to completing the investigation.

I'm sure if it's dodgy enough, Riccò will be able to take it to CAS.

So, their whole "health suspension" was a sham after all. Here I was thinking that someone actually cared about rider welfare.
=1&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=9976&cHash=6296f8b408]in the official statement coni, at least in part, is motivating it's decision to suspend ricco by the decision of the federciclismo medical folks.

the world media, including the cyclingnews. com, only quoted the part related to the attempted doping method.
the suspension is preliminary, that is, there is no decision on the duration of the ban yet.
