Good for him, I like Carapaz, seems like a good dude. A day in Yellow is a big deal, and he seems on pretty darn good form. With the bonuses at the summit and the finish tomorrow, hard to see a scenario where he keeps it, but they have it for a day. Enjoy it.

Not exactly the most proudly earned Maillot Jaune though, wheelsucking to the finish yesterday and the team planning to put all the guys in between him and Pogi/Remco/Vingo today. But it's EF and Vaughters, so apparently next year we'll hear him bloviate for hours about how it was this great strategy to achieve this huge goal on Netflix. Kudos to Carapaz that he was in enough form to wheelsuck, and the team was strong enough to put themselves in between RC and a few guys who were coasting into the finish, but...pretty weak Yellow TBH.

:grin::grin: hahaha.

I loved how we was still sprinting for 14° while Pogi/Remco/Vingo were nowhere to be seen.
Plus everybody knew it since yesterday that Pogi/Vingo didn't want it; the only uncertainty was in regards to Remco.

Anyway, yeah, "not exactly the mosto proudly earned Maillot Jaune" in the context of these two days, but as far as his career goes:
1°-2°-4° at Giro
3° at Tour
2° at Vuelta
Olimpic Gold
1° Tour de Suisse
6 stages between Giro and Vuelta
I'd say he deserves to wear it and be the first ecuadorian to do so.

was obvious yesterday that pog miscalculated and did not want the yellow jersey. so he gave it away today . but yes....such a showing of strength by carapaz. lol pog couldn't be rid of the yellow jersey soon enough....but yes, carapaz fans think he really is a contender lol

Sure. Anyone wearing it deserves it, he was the only one who could hang with Remco and hold his wheel. Enjoy it!

I like Richard Carapaz,,,he is tenacious and strong willed...and he has a killer instinct...He will do anything to win...as he should

Everyone on here would do the same in his place... So many admire Pog and Remco but they have been born with exceptional physical abilities....Richard uses what he can and so should be commended for this

Only reason Carapaz doesn't get flamed more for being a suckwheeler is simply that he's not relevant enough to be flamed for it more.
No, it's because he is an aggressive rider who always attacks and take risks, look at how he won giro or Tokyo gold. He is an aggressor, not a coward.

See how he will show up to a race like Cataluna and be always attacking and trying things even when he is just not good and finishing like 30th overall.

People like roglic get flamed for being wheelsucker because they are never putting their face in the wind or attacking, him and g Thomas would wait for the sprint on ventoux. This is what people don't like.

Very happy to see Carapax in the yellow. A great racer and underappreciated rider.

Exactly. The defining characteristic of Riki last few seaons has been riding with panache, never been afraid to attack from far out.

Playing it smart by letting the guy with the most to gain who also is strongest on the flat do the work => wheelsucker-meme.

I pity the casuals.

His Giro win was the only time when the "legendary" Movistar GC tactics actually worked! Just for that he deserves praise 👏

Tomorrow on stage 4?

Actually, there's a short scene where Remco, alongside Tadej points at Carapaz as he "attacks" the gap. Neither even farted in response because they didn't want the jersey obligation and, as some have accurately noted; the DS of EF wanted something to sell to his sponsors.

You mean in stage 3 at the finish? That’s not Carapaz, but Healy
