You mean Porte is boring????If Porte was Colombian he would have more pages in his thread than Contador, Froome and Remco combined.

Cadel's style when he was out of the saddle was not the most sophisticated one, but surely the one everyone remembers (he was an excellent example how a mountain biker looks when you put him on a road bike).Rightly or wrongly, in most cultures Aussies are considered very easy on the eye, but in road cycling we are generally viewed as ugly ducklings.
It's all Cadel's fault.
Okay crash and badly timed punctures but some of the crashes were his own fault re the bad one he had in the Tour when he took out Dan Martin. But in 2016 without the lack of crowd control on Ventoux and another poorly timed puncture he was set for third place instead he took fifth. From what Porte said after the Tour last season his leadership days are over but Thomas also has a habit of not staying upright so the Ineos leadership in the Tour could get interesting after the first week.Disagree. If it is because of crashes how do you know how he would have performed?
This is the "Crash Sindrome". The rider that crashed is usually the best contender.
In the 2011 Tour he actually did on the Galibier..............yeah, evans always looked like he had 10 guys attached to his bicycle's back wheel and was making a huge effort to pull them all
I think they're aware of that and I can't imagine them announcing him as a leader instead of G. As you said, they'll try to keep him close in GC for as long as possible (btw Skyneos seems to be good at managing multileaders team) and after that the road will decide.Ineos should not give him the leadership for 1st 2 weeks. He does better when he is supposed to work for somebody else. Otherwise he will crash puncture or position himself badly out of the race. They should only divulge this info to him in the third week or on the 2nd rest day

Who was Porte working for in 2020 TdF? His best result ever? Not one bad day in three weeks and was a better climber than riders like Landa and MAL. Now he looks like he is going just as well at the Dauphine. Dropped Lopez again today, a nice little reminder.
But Ineos have a conundrum with Porte and Carapaz seemingly ahead of their TdF leader Thomas at this point in time. Hopefully for their sake Thomas can lift.
Also Lopez started his season late so him being in such good form already will mean he will probably be stronger than Porte at the Tour.
Thomas could have gone faster but did not attack because Porte was up the road. Also Lopez started his season late so him being in such good form already will mean he will probably be stronger than Porte at the Tour.
Speaking about Porte vs Lopez, I remind that Lopez lost 5 minutes to Porte at last Tour's TT and there are 60 km of TTs this year...
Yes but there is no reason to believe that López necessarily will flunk as badly on the TTs as that day.
Also no reason to believe he won't lose at least 2-3 minutes over those two TTs. He will have to be substantially better than Porte in the mountains and it doesn't look likely now.
Statistically one is far more likely than the other.Well, it's a bit up and down with López and TTs. He could lose five minutes, he could be close to being Porte's equal.

Maybe but check his TT from Algarve last year. He has it in him but so far hasn't been able to put it together in a GT. It's almost a pity he has left Astana with those crazy TT performances they are having lately.
Strong ride by Thomas today although the stop start at the front helped him get back. Lucky he got a quick remount and his bke wasn't damaged or himself apart from the inevitable road rash. They needed to drop Porte on the climb and that was never going to happen. It was the sort of descent that Porte can handle, not very technical and other attacks worked in Pote's favour on the descent.Who was Porte working for in 2020 TdF? His best result ever?
