Porte claims swimming was key to become better cyclist. triathletes around the globe laughing hard. drugs OTOH...

if this was such an advantage, triathletes would be switching over in their droves and caning the current peloton...

I can't imagine having the nerve to get caught and go down as the best Tasmanian cyclist of all time...who also happened to be doping. Fear of forever looking like a dirtbag would cause me to not take the risk.
cool story.

Firstly we have seen over and over that the risk is not that great. Secondly isn't taking that risk preferable to going down as the tenth best Tasmanian cyclist who may have not been doping?

And the pay waaaay down there at 10th best is worse than a barista!!

Every single incentive to dope is still in place.

Even if they get caught it is still worth it! Ask Garmin (JV, TD, CVdV, RH, DZ) Hincapie, Leipheimer, Zabel, Virenque, JaJa, Merckx(x2), Kelly, Roche, Contador, Ullrich, O'Grady, Menchov, Vino etc etc etc

Pantani would disagree. I also suspect Ulrich and O'Grady would prefer if they hadn't been outed. So I still think there is incentive not to dope - but just not enough.

Even though they were outed, they still benefited greatly from doping. If they didnt dope, we wouldnt know that if they exist at all.

In his entire pre Sky career put together Porte scored 1362 cq points. In the last 2 months alone he has scored 60% of that figure.

But yeah, Sky bought all the best riders with their big budget that no one else could manage and thats why they have the only 3 riders that can beat Armstrong's times clean.

It was obvious this was going to happen after all that talk about Porte having his best off season ever and losing weight etc.

Now I'm just waiting for Joavickers to show up on their 50th account and bring up the 2010 giro as proof he was always talented.

It's going to be jaw dropping if Porte really is just slowly building up form for the Giro. But the again, he is the unofficial Madone record holder.

Well the giro did prove Porte was talented. Nowhere near gt podium contention talented let alone only clean rider (with froome and Wiggins) to beat Armstrong on climbs talented of course but of all the things Lauren Joachim Vickers comes up with that would count as a fair comment.

I heard that they will do a training camp at Dean's Blue Hole to prepare their GT team. Didn't JV already check it out during team building? Mark my words, JV boys will be even faster

How far do you guys reckon lil Richie is off his peak right now?

Sky have lil Richie's program dialed in pretty good right now. Lets see if he can hold it. Last year it failed.
If he does it will be like the 4th of July at Il Giro in May.

To be fair it didn't fail last year. He was very good in T-A and only behind Contador and Quintana, where he should be, when they're all in form. Then he got sick under T-A.

there's pretty much all of the Giro favorites in Catalunya, too -- Contador, Uran, Pozzovivo, Aru -- and he's beaten them all pretty easily.
