Anybody know how if the TT in Algarve is flat or not?

Would be nice to see Purito and Quintana showing up.

No Sky for Algarve?

8 WT teams like last year but with Trek instead of Sky.

Not surprised I imagine it's Herald Sun, Dubai, Qatar, Oman & Andalucía for Sky in February.

Fair enough. That's still a lot of races.

Three of those they'll be riding for sprinters, classics guys. Only races I can see them going for GC are Oman (Landa) and Andalucia (Kwait).

Dimension Data going World Tour creates and loses a wild card for each Grand Tour my wild guess at those would be:

Giro-Bardiani, Tharcor, Caja Rural, CCC
Tour: Bora, Cofidis, Direct Energie, FVC
Vuelta: Caja Rural, Cofidis, Direct Energie, UHC

I'd rather have Androni instead of Thacor at the Giro and I don't think that UHC are a good choice for the Vuelta, Brajkovič isn't the rider that he used to be and the rest of the team isn't great.

Yup, that's the plan. But he isn't sure yet if he will the ride the TdF in a Valverde style, or that he prefers some other races instead.

If he also rides the Tour to help Aru (?) he'll get a stonger team for the Giro, if not Aru will probably get the stronger domestiques.
Still, with Scarponi (it's the Giro, so he should be good), Kangert and Superman Lopez he should always have a few very strong climbing domestiques.

I think whatever happens Nibali gets a weaker team; Aru is safer PR bet and won't say anything untoward against Astana, and Nibali's relationship is not too rosy atm. Aru is Vino's #1 man rn, Nibali will get the team of last year minus Fugslang and with Tiralongo for moral support.

I don't think that Nibali will get Tiralongo.
I had a pretty boring lecture, so I tried to figure out who'll be on the Giro Astana team. :D
Nibali, Scarponi, Kangert, Capecchi, Superman Lopez, Vanotti, Agnoli, maybe Lutsenko and someone with a big engine Boom/Gruzdev/Grivko
The Tour team could be:
Aru and his crew (Tiralongo, Rosa, Cataldo, Zeits), Birdsong, Lulu, Malacarne (?), and a powerhouse for the flat stages.

Roman Kreuziger in yesterday press:

Ruta del Sol, Strade Bianche, Tirreno (leader), San Remo (for Peter Sagan), Tour of the Basque Country and then Ardennes (leader), Tour de Suisse (leader), Tour de France (for Alberto), Classica San Sebastian, Olympics and quite possibly Vuelta (more likely if Alberto decides to ride it).

If Roman is leader in Tirreno, is Majka superdom for Contador in Nice then?

Could be co-leaders. But I wouldn't be surprised if he was a dom in march since his form is fairly bad at the beginning of the season. I am more curious about Tour de Suisse personally.

Fabio Aru:

Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana
Either Tirreno-Adriatico or Paris-Nice
Tour of the Basque Country
Fleche-Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Criterium Dauphine
Tour
Olympics

Plan B is to ride Volta a Catalunya instead of PN/Tirreno.

Kwiatkowski's calendar is almost identical to the one of Valverde from what I know.

Spanish opening races
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (?)
Strade Bianche (sole leader)
T-A
Milano-Sanremo
Dwars (likely leader)
E3 (?)
Flanders (co-leader along with many)
Ardennes (sole leader)

Sky and by extension G and probably Kwiatkowski will be at the Algarve.
Yes, I saw that they were going to be there nonetheless. Thomas has hinted that he doesn't want a too heavy race season (https://www.bikesoup.com/magazine/im-just-loyal-guess-geraint-thomas-helping-team-sky-new-book/), so maybe Kwiatkowski get a chance to lead this year. He was 2nd in 2015 after all.

I think G is starting a little later and will mostly be focusing on the stage races. From what I heard, he is likely to be superdom for Froome in Paris-Nice (rumored to be one of the hardest and mountainous editions ever), then riding Tour of Flanders (but only The Flanders), perhaps supporting Froome in Romandie and later is going to be their sole leader in Tour of California and Tour of Suisse before riding the Tour.

Yeah my guess for the Algarve would be:
Kwaitkowski, Nieve, Golas, Boswell, Seb Henao, Puccio, Fenn, Swift
