Great, there is now a chance that race won't be decided after TT.
He has to go 100% for Giro and put less priority on a Tour though.

Also, wonder if that means Kwiatkowski will go for Vuelta for stage hunting and as a preparation for World Championships? (personally I would rather have him not ride GT next year and go to US races before WC)

It'd be weird for a WC to not ride any GT. Whether or not he rides for GC is another matter and one that can be easily determined by him.

Awesome.
Now if just Porte gets back to his 2013 form, Uran improves a bit and Aru keeps getting better, we might actually have a proper race at the Giro.
Yes for 2nd place/podium spots :p

The battle for 2nd was quite good in '11, but the podium spots were certain quite early, so we'll probably get a more exciting/close GC next year. Let's just hope the racing will match.

nah, if what I said happens, AND if Contador arrives short on form, I do believe it would be a race for 1st.
Combined estimated probability of all those events: ~5%
But I want to believe.

I really doubt Contador will arrive short on form. It's better to be superman and win 'easily' than building up and fighting hard for three weeks. I find the other things combined more likely than Contador not smashing 'em.

so do you think that AC is more willing to take the risk of fading away in the final week of the tdf, rather then arriving short at the beginning of the Giro?

I think he'll be ready for day 1, but holding back and mostly just following others until after the ITT. Fading away in the Tour will be because of fatigue, not lack of form (so no I don't think he's risking that by having good form/being superman in the Giro. It'll depend more on how hard he goes.).

Anyway the field looks good for the Giro next year with Contador, Uran, Aru, Porte, Fatancur, Pozzovivo(?) & Kelderman(?) and others yet to announce. Don't really know what the status is for Ulissi, he isn't on the UCI provisional suspension list nor the banned list. Will he be ready to rock in May next year? I hope Lampre sends Niemiec as well and some of the youngsters.

I expect all the climbers from Etix left to go to Giro, no brainer. Means Bouet, Brambilla Verona and De la Cruz. What great options lel.

It's quite funny how Omega got rid of all its Belgian climbers plus Poels and brought..well..Bouet as the best one. Uran must have been joyous..

Porte is doing Giro and Tour. So his schedule may be light in early season. Leading Giro.

Wiggins is stopping with Sky road team after Robuaix, transferring to track, or at least that' the current plan. Roubaix is 110% focus.

Because De Weert, Pauwels and De Gendt were of such great help?
And you forgot Pieter Serry. Poels is a tough loss, but overall I think Bouet and De la Cruz are an Upgrade to the three guys mentioned.

True, you forget Bakelants who was useful though. 24th at Tour or something.

Still, with Uran taking pink after the ITT these are not guys you want to depend

I think so. He will take that risk. Not sure he will show up short of form for the Giro. It might screw up the Giro and Tour at the same time.

Also, Michael Rogers!

Mick will do Giro-Tour again
Tosatto will do the Giro and most likely also tdf
Basso, Giro
Bennati? Not sure. Either Giro, Tour or both. And spring classics to support sagan.

Basso, Rogers, Bennati and Tosatto will help Sagan and Contador in Tirreno-Adriatico. Should be good for the TTT.

I expect Kreuziger to make it as well. Maybe one of Mørkøv, Juul Jensen, Valgren, Boaro or Paulinho to take the last spot.

Edit: It'll be interesting to see if Sagan is free to do his best on stage 4. I'm not quite sure if it's too hard for him or not (if in monster shape).

Sorry, no :p Tosatto said on twitter he's looking forward to riding il Giro "with a protagonist on his wheel"
Mick said he'll most likely double Giro-tour again because it worked out very well for him last year but not sure where.

and like Netserk said, Rogers, Tosatto and Bennati will be at Tirreno alongside Contador, Sagan and Basso

Based on Betancur's comments about AG2R already having three (!) leaders for the Tour de France I would've assumed that Pozzovivo may go to France in a free role to go for the mountains jersey.

Might be a wise decision as he finally would win some gt stage(s) again and with his qualitys is likely to succeed for polka dot.

As well AG2R would not have to spend much time working at front of the peloton with their mountain goat being up front on the climbs all day. Concentrating on doing some back to back attacks with Bardet and Peraud wouldn't be too bad tactically.

Just my 2 cents of course.
