Riders with the same characteristics.

Which riders do you think are closest to each other in terms of abilities, charatistics and/or riding style?

Examples:
Stybar and GVA.
Gerrans and Matthews.
Kristoff and Degenkolb.
Tejay and Talansky.

I would love to see some of the modern riders being compared to former cyclists and legends. But my knowledge about the old masters is not strong enough to make such comparisons.

For the current cyclist Degenkolb and Kristoff are maybe the most famous example, while the Yates brothers seem to swap characteristics between them, and I can't help thinking sometimes that Purito is a better Dani Moreno.

^ I was gonna make a joke about how Yates and Yates seems pretty similar. Though I suppose identical twins don't quite count in this...

Rodriguez-Moreno
Aru-Contador
Mollema-C.A Sørensen
Rolland- A. Schleck :(((
Fuglsang-Rui Costa

I can't help thinking sometimes that Dani Moreno could be just as good as Purito if he didn't have to slave for him.

... and then there's this Sagan category - super talent who finds in each race someone with better sprint, endurance, climbing, punchy explosiveness, team support... and if not, here comes motokiller

Yeah. I think the closest you can get to Sagan is Kwiatkowski. Same age. Both very multi-talented. Opportunistic. Great bike handlers. And scary in a technical prologue.

Kwai is a little better as a climber and on the steep stuff while Sagan is better in a flat sprint and on the cobbles.

Btw, has there any been a sprinter as pure as Kittel with the same strength? As sprinter who is known for his great speed but can't handle just the smallest obstacle whatever that is a tiny hill, a small bump, some cobbles or a chaotic cross wind stage. Someone who makes Cavendish look like Virenque.

I know that thought :)

Track sprinters?

Several guys at Bardiani look to be able to do anything his team mate can do, one guy is only a fraction bit better at sprinting than other who is only a fraction bit better at climbing than him, while some others are in between.
