^ I was gonna make a joke about how Yates and Yates seems pretty similar. Though I suppose identical twins don't quite count in this...

LOL. I didnt even think about those 2..

Rodriguez-Moreno
Aru-Contador
Mollema-C.A Sørensen
Rolland- A. Schleck :(((
Fuglsang-Rui Costa

I was going to bold your Fuglesang - Rui Costa comparison as being very inaccurate, but then I realized I had to bold the others too. :D

Well, its super hard to find riders with exact same abilities, styles on bikes, racing mindset etc., but all pairs I think as at least one thing in common. And if Moreno and Rodriguez is very inaccurate, I have a hard time seeing what is accurate....

I think Rod-Moreno is pretty self-explanatory, exact same abilities, cant TT for good, punchy climbers.

Aru and Contador got the same racing mindset, attacking when they have anything left at every given opportunity. Their style is different, but not totally off, nose plasters (!!) and a real type of climbing body. Contador can more than defend himself against the clock, but Aru isnt bad either. Grit and grind type of riders, never giving up, always attacking. I think its somewhat accurate.

Mollema and C.A is halfway a joke, but they have a few similarities. Both diesels climbers and both extremely ugly on this bike having. Probably the two riders I least enjoy climbing.

Rolland and Schleck are both true grimpeurs and extremely stylistic to look at climbing. More or less same pedalling style and no movements. I remember both for their big attacks in the high mountains, but at the same time, both cant ride a bike when not in the Tour (or Giro in one instance). Sloppy, lazy or just having a hard time peaking and maintaining it, I dno.

I see, think you're giving it more of an aesthetics and mentality approach. I can agree with Moreno-Purito, but considering abilities, the others are quite distinct. And on all accounts, Costa has a much better mentality than Fuglsang, better tactics, and is more able. On the other hand, Fuglesang attacks a bit more, is more diesel than Costa and lacks the latter's sprint and slight punch. And then, still aesthetically speaking, where you give emphasis on, Contador looks far better on the bike than Aru, even though Aru's body dimensions and parts' size distribution is near-perfect, and better than Alberto's.

Cheers.

Valverde, DiLuca, Rebellin: Ardennes "sprinters" with varying degrees of GT capabilities.
Amador, Dumoulin - guys who were noted as TT riders who had a good GT result for the first time this year

The Alaphillippe/Gallopin is a good one too. Both were mostly seen as some kind of 'uphill sprinter' in the beginning but has turned more towards true hill specialists and both of them have shown potential to climb well in longer climbs top.

I think Valverde is in a class of his own. Unlike Rebellin and De Luca, he was always a real GT contender and great climber for hard mountain stages. He is better than them against clock too.

But Dan Martin is a rider who is very similar to Di Luca/Rebellin. All riders who fill the gap between Gilbert and Purito/Valverde.

Valverde is the closest we get to a Kelly, but he is stil far away.

Contador is Aru's idol, I'm sure he's just copying him :p
