Dan Martin and Mollema had been finishing next to each other very often in the same races earlier in their careers. They seem to have chosen a bit different routes in the last couple of years, though.

And aesthetics-wise, they are as poor as you can get! Perfect match.

I view Mollema as much more of a diesel tho, Martin surely got the bigger talent for one day racing and talent in general, but its not that bad of a comparison.

Bahamontes = Quintana
Bahamontes is rolling in his grave right now.

And yes, I'm aware he's alive. That's how bad this is.

Agree, pathetic comparison.

Quintana is mostly a wheel-sucker who can perform well in one or two stages from 5-6km out.

Behamontes is in a completely different class.

Bahamontes and Van Impe met one week ago in Toledo.

WTF!? Van Impe looks like his career ended just like 10 years ago! :eek:

They used to get compared here a lot. Around the same age, made their breakthrough in the same Tour of Poland, same "budgie about to fall off its perch" style and they looked like they would be contenders in the same sort of races. Mollema though never seemed to quite develop that fine edge that separates a rider who can get a high placing from a rider who can win big races. I still keep hoping that he will, but he's a frustrating rider to like.

Ben Swift is a worse Freire, though much better than Davis.

Allan Davis had decent achievements : Tour Down Under winner, world medallist (and two more top-10), MSR podium (another top-5), a bunch of victories in second-tier stage races and a lot of top-10 placings in one-day races.

Jose Humberto Rujano Guillen & Domenico Pozzovivo

Good comparisons!

Sastre and Mancebo prob already has been mentioned. Pretty equal; grinding climbers, spanish, Vuelta + Tour etc.

Bob Jungels & Tom Dumoulin

Yes. Both have shown nothing on the cobbles, despite having the great headstart of being big Beneluxers with huge ITTing talent. Jungels won PR U23 but has shown nothing since. Both their best pro result on anything resembling cobbles is a top 20 in Strade Bianche.

I agree if we are talking post holiday Basso, but pre holiday RoboBasso then it's whole different story as he was nothing like Kruijswijk :D
