True. The apparent association of bad weather and inappropriate clothing with getting sick remains somewhat of a puzzle, with various explanations around.

Rigo needs to get his act together about protecting the chest from those colds. Same thing happened at the vuelta last year.

He went to Colombia and came back worse. We saw that in Romandie already. If he is really sick he should prepare for the Tour where the team will send a real team!!!!!!

I'm not so sure. Yeah, Uran would be allowed to ride for GC for sure, but I doubt they will give him much support to be honest. Kwiatkowski is a much bigger name, the regining World Champion and produces much better results than Uran, so they would back him 100%. Not for GC if Uran is there but on every stage Kwiatkowski has a chance to win, and that's a much better decision than supporting Uran for GC.
bigger results? a world championship title and what else exactly?Hugo Koblet said:Ryo Hazuki said:if uran is there the team will obviously ride for cavendish and him then. kwiatkowski is no gc riderHugo Koblet said:He wouldn't get much support on the Tour team if he even makes the team. Bigger than Piemonte, which is the biggest race Uran has won...Ryo Hazuki said:is that a big race?SeriousSam said:Amstel
BTW. Who won the first GT Uran podiumed? It wasn't by any chance that Vincenzo Nibali fella who you claim there are 30 Colombians that can beat him?Ryo Hazuki said:I rate multiple gt podiums and stagewins higher than a wc title and the agr![]()

Lol. Two 2nd places in the Giro and two stage wins. Wow. Just managed to beat old man Evans in the first. World champion is of course bigger than that. But since you count everything Uran has done, you might as well add Liege and Fleche podium, Strade Bianche win, Algarve win etc.Ryo Hazuki said:I rate multiple gt podiums and stagewins higher than a wc title and the agr![]()
podium places in classics don't matter. all that matters are wins and wins and podiums in gt's.Netserk said:Lol. Two 2nd places in the Giro and two stage wins. Wow. The whole point was who to back in the Tour. Uran who won't get in the top-5 and won't be able to win any stages, or Kwiatkowski who is in stripes, can win stages and very likely to wear yellow in the first week.

The colder temperatures in your body lower the defense of the immune system. That's why a change of temperature triggers the sick season anywhere in the world. Especially for people from Countries that are not exposed to such changes.Ryo Hazuki said:wtf is this? you do realize you can never get sick from coldness right? not a human being has ever gotten sick of that. you only become sick from bacteries and viruses. not cold, or rain or anything like that.SergeDeM said:Things have just not gone according to plan at all. I would not back up Kwiat either. He is not a proven GT contender by any means. And he can hunt stages on his own just like Uran. Different to Cavendish IMHO, which requires a whole entourage of people. Amazingly enough for that old idiot that is over the hill. I would not care for neither one but since they are paying the money you would have to back up Cavendish.Hugo Koblet said:Ryo Hazuki said:I rate multiple gt podiums and stagewins higher than a wc title and the agr![]()
You might be the only one then.
In all seriousness, noone in their right mind would back Uran over Kwiatkowski in the Tour.
Lefevere will clearly always go for the stages rather than the GC, particularly in this years Tour were even a podium is unlikely. However, Kwiatkowski can expect plenty of support in stages where he has a really good shot at winning. If on the other hand he gets dropped I doubt he'll get much support, he'll probably be expected to drop back to the gruppeto on his own. Uran will have probably have some support all throughout the flat stages, and as much as possible (which is to say likely very little) in the mountains, even though he'll probably only be aiming for a top-5.Hugo Koblet said:Ryo Hazuki said:if uran is there the team will obviously ride for cavendish and him then. kwiatkowski is no gc riderHugo Koblet said:He wouldn't get much support on the Tour team if he even makes the team. As to how star power, sure, the rainbow jersey places a halo on the Pole. He has a bigger spotlight at the moment, no doubt. However, the moment the jersey changes hands everything changes. I don't remember the last time Rui Costa's name was even mentioned on this site this year. Uran gets articles written exclusively about him all the time. Even this year, EQS just made a pretty big effort to launch a Spanish version of their website. I doubt it's for De la Cruz's benefit. Maybe it'll be on in time for the Tour, but I've yet to see anything about a Polish version coming out (and Poland is an EU country).
I would also think it depends on the contract situation. If the current situation holds were Kwiatkoswki is all but gone and the team is still wooing Rigo, I'm guessing in that case he'll most definitely be getting the seat next to Cav on the bus.

The statement that you made about Nobody in the right mind would not choose Uran over Kwiat on a GT is not accurate. Really. This is not a Classic. Wake me up when Kwiat becomes a known commodity for the GT's.
Thanks.
I think you're making my point for me. Uran is a bigger overall star and has wider global reach. The Spanish website reference was alluding to the fact that he probably gets more clicks, even with Kwiato being world champion, and the team knows this. The Hitch said:carton said:Lefevere will clearly always go for the stages rather than the GC, particularly in this years Tour were even a podium is unlikely. There are 40 million Polish speakers in the world about 2 % maybe of active pros and staff are Polish speakers, and there is 1 wt week race.
There are like 1 billion Spanish speakers in the world, about 1/3 of all active pros and staff speak Spanish, Spanish speakers have been by far the most dominant group over the last 2 decades, one of the three gts is Spanish.
I can see the reason why they would launch a Spanish version over a Polish one, and it doesn't have to be because they value Uran higher.
