As far as the doping goes there is not much difference between Rock and Phonak 2.0--I mean BMC--Radio Shack, HTC, Movistar, Astana, Lampre, Lotto, Saxobank, and pretty much every other World Tour team. That is a bogus issue. Hype is good for the sport. So are blingy cars and hot women. Having a kit that stands out is a heck of a lot better than a boring kit based in this season's popular color, which seems to be the typical design used by half of the World Tour teams. With someone other than Ball handling the management, the team might be able to keep its promises to the riders.

I should've clarified "hype" vs visibility...by hype I mean loud public noise without substance and I'm not optimistic we'll get that from RR this time around given the new management's comments about keeping Michael Ball involved. A racing team that attracts attention is generally a good thing...unless that team's sponsor goes bankrupt. Also, I don't deny the role of teams in doping their cyclists - but the owners or managers of most teams don't have PEDs found in searches of their homes.

As for the cars and women, I'll admit that's a matter of taste...my own taste is not "bling for bling's sake" and as an American, I'm not a fan of huge SUVs and the people who often (though not always) drive them. And I find many women hot - podium girls at various events, for example - but the RR ones frankly come across as skanky...maybe they are perceived by some as good for RR"s PR but they don't appeal to me.

I cant stand the in your face attitude and brashness of the team owner, but do like the cycle clothing, pity the 2 are associated.

It's not the same at all. It's like the difference between The Hitch and jens_attacks.

Great this means the "should you wear team kits?" thread will live on for ever
Maybe we should have a "should you wear Rock & Republic jeans?" thread. (The answer is no, by the way.)

Word. I don't get the attraction of Rapha clothing. $40 t-shirts made in China. WTF?

All rides are guaranteed to be 50% more epic while wearing Rapha.

I think we need a Rapha hater thread.

There needs to be as many "I hate Rapha" threads as there is "Andy Shleck" threads.

Cycling clothing that is dry clean only should never be purchased. Central Park lappers love to wear it. Yes sometimes they do 3 laps.

Love the kit, hate the owner and the riders he signed in it's previous incarnation. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
It did get me looking at the old jerseys and they are pretty cool, may have to stretch to a white one.

Rapha look ok till you see one on the road.

there is no bigger tool however than the guy riding in a Rock Racing kit and his Green DeRosa.

I agree on both counts. I find the whole image obnoxious and unwelcome. Also, skanky does not equal sexy - No class at all.

I hope their second demise comes ASAP

I think it is funny that cycling is a p1ssant sport with teams constantly struggling to find sponsorship, team managers like Vaughters begging the races to give them a cut of non-existent TV revenue, races folding, and a team that could bring in more fans and more money is hated by the fans. Rock was mobbed by spectators at the Tour of California.
