Some really aggresive riding by Valverde. Shocking, but great to see it paid off for him.
The fact that Pozzovivo dropped him for a while isnt a shocker as well, since Valverde was pulling and attatcking the leading group for a few kms before Pozzovivo attacked. Really impressive he could still do that after all that work. Most rriders would've blown up.

Valverde is clearly a better overall climber. Pozzovivo can create gaps, but they get closed down quickly. Valverde will crush him 10 out of 10 races, stages, tours.

Ok, LBL doesn't have super steep climbs, but Valverde doesn't have it in the monuments after his suspension.

I wouldn't say that. He's got 4 momument/worlds podiums in the last two years. Granted, no wins...
