Romain Bardet Discussion Thread

Bardet ain't gonna podium I think. Although I still expect 2 out of Mollema, Yates and Porte to fade away a bit in the Alps. It's Aru who's clearly a stronger climber than anybody else bar Quintana & Froome if in decent shape. Actually even a minute on Porte ain't out of the world for the little angel if his wings are polished since today.

That's my prediction of the podium.

It's going to be tight to podium. Bardet is right there in the hunt along with Porte, Mollema, and Yates. Quintana seems out of it. Aru was impressive in the mtt. But he's a over a minute behind Bardet. I can't see Aru pulling back that much time. Gosh, I hope it's not as dull as I'm expecting.

Hope for Romain and hope for at least something like last year on stages 19 and 20, fingers crossed.

That's my prediction of the podium.

Porte was 13 seconds faster than Aru to top of Cote de Domancy. Aru gained time on the flatter sections. I can't see Porte losing time to Aru unless Astana can crack Sky.

It will be difficult to contain Porte (unless bad day).
Aru has done better than Bardet for the first time in this race, but it's only 9 seconds so unless he finds the magical form I'm confident.
I'm sure he will finish ahead of Mollema, which is a 'lesser' rider (no offense, Bauke).
Quintana and Yates are question marks.

Quintana will leak more time for sure. He is getting worse not better. I think Porte, Bardet and Aru can smell blood as it seems that Yates and Mollema are starting to weaken. Tomorrow will be big test for them

Agree 100%. Aru is a bit too far, I think. And he got cracked a couple of days ago. It's Porte and Bardet, provided that they unleash hell tomorrow and drop Bauke and Yates, who didn't look as easy, maybe faded a little bit today. Quintana may be 3rd, not second, and maybe 5th. On the other hand, Romain has looked a little stronger every day.

No easy task for Bardet, but I like his chances.

RB is improving daily and it doesn't seem far-fetched to imagine him overhauling Mollema or Quintana, maybe even Yates. The problem is that he'll have to overtake all three, because Porte is riding even better and seems certain to leap-frog him. To my mind there's only one podium spot still open after Froome and Porte (barring more Porte-esque bad luck, of course . . .).

Bam! Nice one. I was totally wrong. Great performance. Pure class act he is. Maybe even grand tour winning material? He did beat Aru who most likely's gonna be the main favorite for the 2017 Giro quite easily here!

Quintana +16"
Yates +25"
Porte +1'06"
Aru +1'49"

Yates is fading.
Porte is not that good.
Aru did not increase enough, it seems.

Quintana plays conservative and bad weather seems to suit him better. Danger n°1 tomorrow for me.

I really like Bardet, his wins are not always because he was the strongest on the bike, but because he has big balls and takes action. Chapeau!

Hope Froome cracks tomorrow due to his crash of today and we can have a crazy fight for yellow on the last day!

A heroically ballsey effort compared to anything else we've seen this TdF. I fear it'll have taken a bit out of him for tomorrow and his failure to push to the line could cost him second place. Seems very likely to podium though now and that's nothing more than he deserved.

Really hope he holds onto 2nd place. Quintana has been ridiculously lucky so far this Tour

But there's a nice juicy descent for Bardet to catch up if Quintana distances him over the Joux Plane

Defo one of my favourites among the new GC-contenders, lots of panache. I wouldn't be scared of him not holding on to a podium after seeing the level among the pretenders today, I really wouldn't.

I was one of the few that actually thought that he would get on the podium before the Tour, as always an agressive style will pay of in the end.

Reminds me of great attacking riders from the past that rode with the heart. So my absolute favorite GC contender.

he was on my radar after he attacked in AGR as early breakaway and remained in front up until like 10km to go. That was monsterly impressive. He was also super young back then

He already was the one who tried to cope with Ivailo Grabovski's epic attack at the Tour of Turkey.

I remember AGR as well. Leclercq was impressed by his move as well that day.
