The old gang is back, fresh from E3, Gen and Milan Sanremo races. Wout, Pog and MVDP will battle it out again. But this year we also have a strong Pedersen and Ganna. Can anyone stop MVDP winning this?
Last year it was MVDP who soloed to a dominant win.

In 2025, the start of Tour of Flanders returns to Bruges. This also means that the route to the Flemish Ardennes is changing. The duo Oude Kwaremont - Paterberg will once again serve as a major obstacle in the finale. The finish does not change either. Mathieu van der Poel's successor may raise his arms on the Minderbroedersstraat in Oudenaarde.

Start: Markt in Bruges - 10:00
Finish: Minderbroedersstraat in Oudenaarde - around 16:15
Distance: 268,9 km

Pogacar attacks on Berg ten Houte, goes clear with Mads, MvdP, and after a bit of flat Ganna. Ganna is dropped on Oude Kruisberg, Mads on Oude Kwaremont, MdvP on Koppenberg, my TV on Taaienberg.

God do I wish MvdP had a plan to compete with Pogacar, and Mads one to compete with MvdP, and that Ganna was strong enough for Ineos' plans for him to compete with Mads to work.

Weather prediciton I see now is 15 C, sunny all day and NE wind.

How the race will unfold is impossible to predict, but I think once again the fight for the break will be immense and the peloton may just split in the early hours again.

So it's the big main road west of Ronse, that's Niuewe Kruisberg. The one in Ronse is the Oude Kruisberg, and the bit with the cobbles is just the Oudestraat.

To be fair to myself, it's not like the Belgians always know what's going on. Plenty of instances of people calling the other climb in Geraardsbergen, which they used for a while back in the day "de Muur" back then.

It's on! Clash of the titans. The race we've been waiting for. This is one of two spring races (besides MSR) that I marked red in my calendar. Hopefully it will deliver big time. There's no big secret: MVP and Pogacar look too strong for the rest, both are in form. Can Pog drop MVP? (otherwise let's just say he's not a specialist in 2-men sprint against the Dutch :p ). I also expect a strong breakaway to form (even strong guys know their chances are slim in the finale vs two aliens), which could make the top favourites start their battle earlier (like in 2023). My prediction: Pogacar to drop MVP during the last Kwaremont passage and win but their attrition battle will start much earlier.

At the same time in central Europe almost winter conditions are predicted. Therefore it's impossible to predict one week in advance - just one forecast update can shift cold pool more towards the west resulting in much colder weather. Deterministic chaos: small change now can cause a substantial airmass shift in one week.

Agree.

I think Pog has the edge again. His positioning will be perfect, the bergs and murs won't trouble him, and even if he gets away with MvdP he just has to attack on every climb.

On the contrary, I think MvdP has to be 110% fit, plus tactically aware and not race on "intuition" like he does in races like E3. Be smart, stay alert and glued to Pog's wheel.
