Ronde van Vlaanderen 2025, one day monument, April 6 (men's)

At noon today I've spent half an hour on the meadow bordering the cobblestones of the Koppenberg. It's funny how many spectators there are already two days before the race!

A lot of amateur cyclists were doing the climb, each at their own pace, some of them bravely defying the hill, others not even reaching the top.

At 12.30 a group of Movistar women showed up. I think Cat Ferguson was in last position. Five minutes later there were three women from Lidl-Trek, with Shirin van Anrooij leading.

At 12.45 spectators were yelling, "There they are!" And suddenly someone in a rainbow jersey came flying up the climb, much faster than anyone else, swiftly pedaling, making it look easy. Yes, it was Tadej Pogacar! People were shouting his name. Fifty meters after him came Nils Politt. Another fifty meters further came Narvaez, Wellens and Morgado.

At 13.00 I was back down, just when a group of Cofidis riders reached the foot of the climb, led by Dylan Teuns.

Watching cycling can be a fun experience, even when there's no race. Of course I was lucky to stumble upon the world champion, but there was always a good chance of seeing some pros reconning the "Bulge of Melden".

Im used to experience the same thing, only in my case, they yell, 'There he is!'—but then instantly run away in terror. I've never indulged in wondering why.

Jokes aside, these bits are appreciated, cheers. I'm sure it's amazing to be there experiencing those legendary cobbles right now, especially with this weather. Enjoy it and the race if ur staying!

Once again, this is me reading all of your posts from Flanders while I sit here at my desk.

We’ve heard legends that you’re a Greek god. Slayer of the lady hearts

Really curious what Visma will do. They are here to win after all. Betting on van Aert or Jorgenson following Pog on Kwaremont must be out of the question. So they must try something different. Probabaly they will try something like in Dwars, hoping to shake off some UAE doms and pray a few other strong riders will follow along and contribute; and then start rolling attacks.

Pedersen has already said he can't wait for Kwaremont given what happened in E3, so he will surely anticipate. In an interview he was happy to see Visma riding strong in Dwars, thinking he could benefit from it.

Mads can do whatever he wants, at the end of the day, Pogacar can close a 3 minutes gap to Mads with one leg.
My point is that we could see a more tactical race than usual because the other teams know how strong UAE and Pog is. That could make it more hard to control for UAE. Pog mentioned in his interview that it could be tactical. Pedersen in a strong break where Pog eventually while have to chase alone is not what UAE wants. It will be interesting to see how they will react if Pedersen attacks away.

Wout to channel the 1974 Labour manifesto (maliciously dubbed the longest suicide note ever) from a Bennite perspective and, after a hard fought late 60s early 70s, half attacks half slips away by accident on the Kruisberg/Hotond. It goes ok until he channels his inner Wilson-Callaghan, and rejects the alternative economic strategy aka refuses to go all out on the Kwaremont, and thus surrenders to the IMF / Treasury (MvdP, Pogi).

Right?

Yes exactly this. I always thought my dad was chatting old boomer nonsense when he used to bang on about how bad things were in 1974 with the blackouts and such, but apparently things got to the point where we even had the Central African's taking pity on us.

What does this have to do with anything you might say? Perhaps Pogacar and Van Der Poel can channel their inner-Idi Amin and generously donate a Flanders victory to Wout, the man in need.

Maybe not just before it. I meant generally as a high caloric meal: the mix of carbs and protein (eggs or lean meat) is pretty much what cyclists eat.
Who mixes eggs with pasta...

Anyway eggs are higher in fat than protein. Great nutrition-dense food but they're not lean.

Now I'm kinda curious what tadej eats. Does he have a super boring diet or is that monk life just for wannabes?
