Later in the race, yes..... Bardet probably told Naesen he didn’t have it today, but earlier Naesen was doing the work.

Before the race - yesterday - Bardet said that his big dream was to do a great amount of work for Naesen - as thanks for all the work Naesen has done for him at the Tour over the years - so I just think it would have been weird if Naesen was suddenly working for him.

Van Aert has proven more as a sprinter by winning those Tour and Dauphiné stages, but MvdP is fast as well, especially in a long sprint.
