I recently read an interview with him where he mentioned his weight. Think it was 64 or 65 kgs actually.

So no worries about Rui Costa , his new GC contender weight and TT power :) He is on the right path imo.

Common Ryo, not even you believe Froome weighted that much during the Tour.

He looked worse than Rasmussen.

well and how heavy you think rasmussen was? he was 175 and 60 kg. while looking far thinner then that. quintana is 167 and 52/51 kg, rasmussen looks far worse than him. you can never estimate someone's weight properly in such cases. froome might be build very broad which looks like it. frank schleck is 3 kg less than andy, while same height. frank doesn't look lighter but he is.

froome is 68 kg throughout most of the season and maybe 67 kg at end of the tour

I believe it was 68kg plus or minus 1 kg since he won the vuelta. This coming from an independent expert, so most likely true. Keep in mind this is still a BMI of 19.56, which is right around what frank(though some sources quote his weight as 3kg lighter), andy and rasmussen are.

Personally I never trust what any team site says, they will lie one way or another for whatever reason. Happens in all manner of sports NBA players are taller, NFL players heavier etc.
Photos it's rare I definitely say one way or another on a photo, angles, clothing, activity all make it hard to tell with any certainty. Having said, to me Costa looks slimmer and the team site does say his weight is down, so I'd say there's a good chance of some weight loss.

I believe it was 68kg plus or minus 1 kg since he came second at the vuelta. This coming from an independent expert, so most likely true. Keep in mind this is still a BMI of 19.56(though frank is listed as 3kg less at times), which is right around what frank, andy and rasmussen are.

Edit: bolded because I'm an idiot

Considering Froome hasn't won a single Vuelta, that's not much of an expert isn't he?

Either way Froome is irrelevant to this thread.

What matters is that Costa is thinner and we will only know the effects this weight loss will have on his performance when the real racing starts, which should be next week on Algarve or the next week in PN.

I expect a podium place from him in Liege. In the Amstel maybe he can surprise a la Kreuziger but I think he ends in the top 10. In San Remo he is a dark horse..

Better than Alberto isn't even a guarantee for top ten nowadays :p

Either a stage win (stage 2 from far out like a boss) or a top5 would make me happy in Algarve. I'm a bit concerned about his Mallorca results (he was usually much better there) altough I don't know how seriously he took those races...
Lol winning the Tour, no way in hell. A top10 is a good goal and I'm not sure he has it in him. Some guys are "just" one week/day racers (Spilak for example).

From Killer to mister second place?

I guess PN will tell.

As Gloin son of Gróin, father of Gimli pointed out, his first win of the season last year came in Klasika de Amorebieta, and he is doing better this year than he ever did in Algarve.

Certainly nothing to worry about. We all knew Kwia was the favourite, the Algarvian climbs are just too short and suit him quite well. And Conta is Conta.
