movingtarget said:Also the most overrated rider in the peloton. What has he won ? He has more problems than just mono. He seems to have motivation issues as well. Not a good combination for winning a grand tour which he will never do anyway.
Pentacycle said:Please don't get confused here. You claim you can read Contador's mind regarding that stage, saying that he gifted the stage to Anton, while under 'normal' circumstances stages are contested at full power.
And I'll just say that next year's Giro we'll finally see the true Rujano easily pedalling away from all other competitors. Then at the Vuelta Contador and Rujano will settle it once and for all who's the better climber.
uphillstruggle said:Exactly! Just watch the stage again (which I've done since this conversation) Anton looks strong and controlled alberto looks unsightly which for him is unusual. He's not out of the saddle a lot, which his is characteristic style; he's right on the rivet of his saddle, the guy is struggling.
Miburo said:what did you claim before the giro 2012?
If you're going to repeat something 10 times you might get lucky sometimes
airstream said:For me he is just a man with potential which will never be realized. Rujano is a typical guy of a mood. He is not a real fighter. Naturally, he is out of 5 or even 10 best climbers
Ryo Hazuki said:well that's exactly what I was saying. so savio admitted he had mono already back then. if you ever had it you'd know it doesn't need to be in accute phase to hinder you so much that you are only able to lay in bed with no energy. besides mono has many different forms. short and hard burst where there's very short sickness and quicker recovery and one that is slow and takes on forever sometimes it can affect someone years if he hasn't recovered well from it. see cunego, blijlevens and many other examples
[Team doctor] Luca Romano confirmed that Rujano never presented any medical pathology that would prevent him from continuing in the race,” Savio said. “In fact, in every team meeting in the first 17 stages, the rider always said that he felt good, and the team always ‘sacrificed’ two riders to ride alongside the ‘captain.’”

cineteq said:Savio doesn't agree with you.
"Rujano maintains that his Giro abandon was caused by mononucleosis, but the blood tests didn’t show mononucleosis in an acute phase, but rather traces of a previous exposure to the virus."

LaFlorecita said:He does that a lot on very steep sections. Simply because on the steeper climbs he struggles more than on less steep climbs.
Hugo Koblet said:Rujano might be a good climber but he's never gonna be a GT contender. Also, I don't think that he's generally overrated. The only one overrating him is Ryo.
He wasn't a contender back then. Since when the winner of Vuelta al Táchira becomes a contender for the Giro in the same year? He was just an unexpected 2005 Giro's 3rd place.Ryo Hazuki said:he already was a gt contender in 2005

Nobody's disputing what he did. All I'm saying is that was not considered a contender before the 2005 Giro was ridden. Contender is a rider who has a chance to win, not necessarily a favorite. He was not.Ryo Hazuki said:he was the best ride rin the giro and he nearly won it in the final climb. he was 50 seconds from pink
