Also the most overrated rider in the peloton. What has he won ? He has more problems than just mono. He seems to have motivation issues as well. Not a good combination for winning a grand tour which he will never do anyway.

For me he is just a man with potential which will never be realized. Rujano is a typical guy of a mood. He is not a real fighter. Naturally, he is out of 5 or even 10 best climbers

Please don't get confused here. You claim you can read Contador's mind regarding that stage, saying that he gifted the stage to Anton, while under 'normal' circumstances stages are contested at full power.

And I'll just say that next year's Giro we'll finally see the true Rujano easily pedalling away from all other competitors. Then at the Vuelta Contador and Rujano will settle it once and for all who's the better climber.

I never claimed he gifted the stage to Anton. I just think (I don't know it because I can't read Alberto's mind) that it could've been closer (maybe Alberto would've won) if Alberto had really wanted that stage win.

Exactly! Just watch the stage again (which I've done since this conversation) Anton looks strong and controlled alberto looks unsightly which for him is unusual. He's not out of the saddle a lot, which his is characteristic style; he's right on the rivet of his saddle, the guy is struggling.

He does that a lot on very steep sections. Simply because on the steeper climbs he struggles more than on less steep climbs.

No one denies he has talent but sooner or later he has to deliver. We used to hear the same thing regularly about Kreuziger. Rujano is always changing teams and seems to have issues with managers as well. I am not sure why his name is constantly mentioned to win a grand tour. I think the problems are more in the head than in the legs. There are plenty of riders with potential that never fulfill it.

well that's exactly what I was saying. so savio admitted he had mono already back then. if you ever had it you'd know it doesn't need to be in accute phase to hinder you so much that you are only able to lay in bed with no energy. besides mono has many different forms. short and hard burst where there's very short sickness and quicker recovery and one that is slow and takes on forever sometimes it can affect someone years if he hasn't recovered well from it. see cunego, blijlevens and many other examples

He looked pretty good on the steep bits of Cuitu Negru, Angrilu and Plan de Corones.

It is just impossible to work a lot out of the sadde at a 5k 15-16% section at Zoncolan physically. They hardly push the lightest gears in the saddle. All the more during the entire climb Contador was defending back then.

Nobody's disputing what he did. All I'm saying is that was not considered a contender before the 2005 Giro was ridden. Contender is a rider who has a chance to win, not necessarily a favorite. He was not.
