Kristoff beats Degenkolb. Is this what would've happened if Degenkolb didn't have bad luck in MSR?

Possibly, the two are pretty equal on sprinting IMO.

Why? The crashes were all at the beginning of the race. Or because it was harder to accelerate?

Imo, longer, chaotic sprints suit Degenkolb better than these with a organised train where Kristoff is only for the last 200m in the wind.
By the way, Ciolek disappointed pretty much. His team worked well for him but he was not even in the top 10.

Herklotz is an absolute beast! Hopefully he will turn pro next year although I believe he wants to stay with his current team for 1 more year :(
