It's funny because normally you'd say that was a great TT from Poels but on the back of his Valencia form he probably would have wanted to be within 10 seconds of the lead tomorrow to give himself a chance of the win. That final climb tomorrow isn't very difficult so with a strong team and no bonus seconds it's hard to see TJ not winning. Kelderman is pretty explosive though so he's obviously the danger man.

Lol at Poels being a GT leader, Poels has 2-3 days in a GT when he's awesome on steep climbs, but he's very inconsistent. He also seems to dislike really bad weather (2014 Stelviogate and the Terminillo stage in last years Tirreno-Adriatico, he was the race leader and flying before that stage and got outclimbed by Cummings), so the Giro isn't exactly the best GT for him.DBotero said:Cance > TheRest said:

What Mayonaniac says is true. Poels is no GT leader. He is like Porte, too inconsistent. That said, ge will be dangerous tomorrow though.

I like Poels and he'd be an awesome stagehunter, but even without Landa there are more than enough guys at Sky who have already finished in the top 10 of a GT multiple times (König, Nieve, Roche). Maybe he could be co-leader at th Vuelta with one of those guys, the Vuelta would probably be the ideal Gt for him.
Back to Andalucia, I'm happy for Wilco, the guy is a great, aggressive rider when he's in shape and hopefully he'll have a great season.

Difference is Poels if he was consistent would be challenge for the win even, Sky doesn't care for Top 10s, they want to win all the Grand Tours. Poels would be infinitely better than Roche, Nieve or Konig in such attempt. Landa however is signed on big money, its clear he'll be sole leader bar any injuries or ilness.

Yeah SKY have nailed their colours ot the mast for GTs ...Its Frome, Landa & Thomas and even with that there will be issues
Poels (and Henao) are great climbers but not there over 3 weeks. SO no he will not be infinitely better if he is inconsistent and finishes outside the top 8 as these 3 riders have done that level, even top 5
Its a shame for Poles but if he wants GT glory in 2017 he has to leave SKY
If he stays he has a strong team to help him win stage races and the odd one day race .....simples

As for Vuelta leadership ...there looks like a trainload of SKY riders lined up for Vuelta leadership but Landa has said he is leading at the Vuelta but that may depend on Chris Froome and how he does at the Tour ...If he crashes out of the Tour (not badly) or get ill or is beaten he may want to do the Vuelta

Poels wins one race and he's suddenly better climber than TJ! No, he can't out climb in form Van Garderen, even Froome had problem to do that in last year's Dauphine

It's probably just some smack talk that shouldn't be taken serious.
Puerto de las Peñas Blancas should be a good climb for TJ, Poels would probably have a better chance on an ungodly steep climb.

Angry Lou is not Muir de Huy ....and I thouhg Poels was good on thelong climbs not necessarily with the speed of Kwait, Martin & Valverde on a 1 KM climb
