Agree, hmm...I wonder how many signatures it would take on a petition for BMC to give him a custom edition Orange team kit?

:D

That would be f***ing awesome!

Its refreshing to see Samu in a diffrent kit. His performance at Euskaltel was going downwards the last couple of years anyway.

Perhaps he can become relevant again on BMC. We shall see.

That's a good point; sometimes you see riders doing their whole career in 1 team and going downward.
A new team can be refreshing and give new motivation.

I hope that's the way it will work out for Anton. For Samu, I'm not so sure. He had some bad luck the last 2 seasons but he normally has enough intrinsic motivation.

He needs to justify his salary which is probably a lot higher than at Euskaltel too :p

He is conveniently forgetting all that support at BMC has not yet worked at all for that team. Till now, he doesn't seem to be doing any better than before either.

I see pais vasco as a big opportunity for samu. I expect evans will fail badly again and force a rethink for bmc next month.

If he does a really good job working for tjvg, perhaps he might earn himself co-leadership for the giro. Or at least a free role.
Thoughts?

It's a little difficult to predict BMC because they made changes in leadership last year, but i think it's very likely that if he does well, they'll at least have him as a protected rider to have a secondary GC option in the Giro.

Hahaha Samu is so full of himself.
 EE was seen as one of, if not the most old school WT setup and Samu has only been with BMC since Peiper took over and started actively managing the riders. Then there's the differences in budget and resources. Chances are the difference in Samu's experiences at the two squads is like night and day.

I like Sammy and would like to see him do well at PV as well as the Giro. I would love to be proven wrong, but I don't think Sammy or Cadel will do much in the Giro. Best of luck to them though.

In theory they should have a good team w a strong double option ala nibali/basso 2010. But i have to agree w you. The BMC trend of underwhelming performancs will likely continue.

Would be nice to see evans put in some effort for a teammate though. Based on recent form he hasn't got even that in him.

The velon video of the crash and SAMU in the ambulance is so upsetting to watch

I love this rider becasue he has such desire and passion at 38 ...He was still figting for a top 5 in a GT at his age ...shows how much he loves the sport and how it must be so hard and how much he has ot put in just to be up there with the best ...And got so little aclaim for his efforts really

There are some younger riders inthe peloton ..and if they had only half the desire he has they woudl go far

It was terrible to see him cross the line in obvious discomfort. I guess he must have been wondering how many more Vueltas he will start.

Terrible crash. I hope he recovers quickly. Luckily no bone fractures, but of course it's a sad way to end an otherwise very good Vuelta.
