How is Greg above Kwiatkowski in the UCI ranking? He has only won Paris Roubaix. Do all those small Belgian races count as monuments or what?

E3 Harelbeke and Omloop het Nieuwsblad are certainly more prestigious than Strade Bianche and Clasica San Sebastian, no matter what some people on this forum think.

And he was also second in the Strade Bianche, second in the Ronde van Vlaanderen and 8th in this race.

Pretty damn obvious why he's ahead of Kwiatkowski.

No. Maybe equal, at best

Grey had a great classic season. On the podium many times.
But Kwiatkowski podiumed a couple times as well in big races next to his victories.
Roubaix, Omloop, E3, GW, 2nd Strade, 2nd RVV vs. MSR, Strade, CSS, 2nd Amstel, 3rd Liege

Quite simple.

Do Omloop and E3 score the same amount of points as the other, more prestigious non-monument classics?

Omloop - 300 points, E3 - 400 points, GW - 500 points, MSR, ToF, PR - 500 points, Strade - 300 points, Amstel and Liege - 500 points, Fleche - 400 points, San Sebastian - 400 points.

Just to let you know, going into an argument with el pistolero is quite useless. He is right and you are wrong and that won't change so best you don't bother arguing with him. Just let him be or something.

Omloop het volk, 100% sure that is seen as a bigger win, but the E3 prijs? Perhaps in Belgium, but outside it has less weight. Even in the Netherlands most casual followers would have no idea (it seldom got televised until the WT), just like the Brabantse Pijl is a big unknown outside of the borders. The problem is that it was always a run up for the bigger courses, just days later.

San Sebastian has as advantage that it's pretty much stand alone, thus isn't overshadowed by a Monument. It's also the only Spanish Classic and has been part of the Wereldbeker since 1989.

The Strade is simply too young.

Agree with this.
But its all a fairly pointless discussion. GVA is first in the UCI ranking, because he collected most points. Also, I would argue that GVA is very often competitive, so he would be a worthy winner of the 'overall' ranking of the WT.

Who is this Alberto bettoili?
Young Italian rider, 23 years old, 10th in E3 this year. Last ear he had an amazing 2nd half of the season, 3on gc in Poland, 2nd in Plouay when he did most of the work annd was outsprinted by Naesen, 4th and 7th in the Canadian classics and 10th in the Giro del Piemonte. He was also climing pretty well at the Tour, a few times he was the only guy who was able to stay with Uran and he was 5th on the stage that was won by Sagan.
Signs of life from Chernetckii, he finished 14th and arrived with the chasing group.

Great to see Kwiatkowski winning. Landa's showing he's a team player after all.

How about Kwiatkowski for the Worlds? It's not beyond him if I remember the route right. I haven't looked for a few months though.

It's his main goal for the remainder of the season.

And when he was not?

I never claimed he wasn't. On contrary to the mob hoping he'll go rogue during TdF. He's simply not a guy who would do such thing.

Happy to see Chernetskiy with a good ride agian, he was doing very well last year and then he had a big crash in Rio (missed his main goal Vuelta cause of that), think he broke a bone or bones in his back, and he has been very mediocre this year. Hope this isnt a 1 time thing and he has a strong 2nd half of the season.

Sky seemed to have worked out 1 day racing better. Kwiatkowski chapeau! but buy your teammates a drink or two ... Landa must be getting tired of pulling people to the line :)
Think Landa will fare any better at Movistar if rumours of a move there are to be believed?

Landa didn't show any signs of not being a team player in the TDF, ok he may have said I unhappy how that one stage went but he still did his job and did it well.

Kwiatkowski probably wins it in the sprint.
If Sky let this come to a sprint they messed up.

Sky have certainly adapted their approach to one day races compared with a couple of years ago. It also helps having the strongest team. Moscon is a huge talent and then the three Michaelteers take over. They got the tactics just right. Landa didn't really have a chance against Gallopin and especially when Mollema caught them, it was clear that they had to play the Flowers card. Landa attacks, Dumoulin follows, the guy with probably the weakest sprint. Gallopin relies on Mollema as the defending champ to chase, leaving Flowers the job of beating Gallopin in the sprint and as planned he comes off his wheel to win.

I'm guessing that Dumoulin didn't have the legs to go again after he caught Landa, since from that position it was the only way of winning.
