bah, it was easy. If it wasn't because of O'Grady, Cancellara would have never caught the breakaway group.

ummm he took 1.10 of the previous 1.30.. he had 20 seconds to bridge. He now has 50 seconds on those men + plus the men he took earlier. What on earth makes you think he wouldn't have caught them.

Can't say I'm surprised by Canc. His sprint at San Remo showed he had the legs for a good season.

One big plus with a Spartacus win: It puts another nail in the coffin of all the industry hype from Cervelo, Specialized and Trek. 'Cause, ya' know, it's NOT about the bike!

Heinrich Haussler (Garmin-Cervelo), Jurgen Roedlandts (Omega Pharma-Lotto), Seb Vanmarcke (Garmin-Cervelo), Niki Terpstra and chase group at 0:26.

And just to think, they could have saved their energy and just ridden Canc's wheel to the front instead of chasing down their own guy...

Yes, I thought it was odd and very lame tactics.
getting ahead of themselves and setting up other teams to ride them down.

Garmin will probably learn the hard way.

It's likely but who knows?

The point is that OGrady was there and helped Cancellara bridge up and get a rest before the massive attack.

I was joking. He could have had 3 more bike changes. That would only mean his win parade wouldn't be 10 km long but just 5. ;)

Oh well, at least we can use as excuse that Boonen, Gilbert and Flecha weren't here :p

Since you introduce Gilbert (under the bizzare idea that he could have actually stopped Canc) one must say that this performance surely puts beyond all doubt who the best classics rider in the world really is.

Sure there are some noises of discontent in Belgium, and from fanboys like Harmon, but after today, the world must aknowledge who the greatest one day racer in the world is and he is pretty pretty far ahead of the rest.

Canc has has hit the minute mark. He will probably lose about 30 seconds on the celebration but its a symbolic figure nonetheless.

Wonder if he will take out the lucky charm.

Edit: saving the celebrations for a week sunday.

Dude.

Ridiculous disorganization....50 seconds...

Yea, its ridiculously disorganized because nobody can do anything but lose time when they hit the front.

Again, your suggestion that he needed O'Grady to do this just looks like you are watching another race or something. O'Grady did a great job, but Canc would have bridged, and would now only have 45 seconds instead of over a minute. Give up the fight dude.

In the Flemish races he's the absolute best yes.

You can't be the best in Lombardia, Luik, AGR and Fleche if you've never ridden them.

Did I say that? No I didn't say that. You are confused! OGrady's work was helpful, not essential... is that clearer?

Haussler couldn't even manage SECOND. Garmin pretty much has to win tomorrow because they have no chance at Flanders or Roubaix.

Maybe Farrar can provide some consolation if he wins the Scheldeprijs.
