No. For instance the prologue of 2004 was also in Liege, on the same course, but 300 meters shorter (there are road works so they had to make it 300m longer this year)

Do the better riders prefer a prologue to be longer?

I realise it is really just to get the systems working, and create a PR wave, but 10km would be about right, and not too long a day for the timers.
