Gesink is 70 kg as well, maybe slightly less in the Tour.

gesink is 191 and 68 kg in topshape and basso is 183 and 70 kg in topshape, pretty big difference, besides gesink isn't bad in rolling climbs either, just better in really steep stuff

I could be very wrong, but maybe too skinny? A bit more muscle wouldn't be bad I like to think.

you are more vulnerable to sicknesses and broken bones for sure, look at how slowly he is recovering from a crash on his back.

Sorry ACF. The TDU with Phil and Paul convinced me. I think if Cam worked on his climbing he could be better, he should also be quite good as he's light. However he could go well at a tour next year like Oman. That would be a realistic testing ground for him. Bobridge has the frame for everything, he would be great on cobbles. However he is good enough to climb and compete i think if he were given the chance. Travis is a great talent as well but is a bit young to judge. As well as the fact he has not competed in any GT's. This cast of talent is supported by Roe, Docker, Durbride, Hepburn, Clark and Matthews. That would be a good enough Aussie team in the future. However no one is a real firecracker in GT's and the sprints as Matthews has to develop tactically and target specific types of races.

Also-also overheard on the press conference before Luz-Ardiden:

Journalist: Saxobank has yet to reveal his deadliest servant, the one leading the danish armies to war, the one they say no living man can drop. Alberto Contador of Pinto. You have met him on several occasions. He is the one who stabbed Andys chain at Port de Balés.

.

I posted a variation of this in the Giro to hype up the Finnestre about how Zomegnan has yet to reveal his deadliest servant, ... the lord of the Dolomites the greatest of them all... youve seen it before, but damn Jobiwan caught me out in seconds and posted some Lord of the rings picture, so i changed it.

:D

Damn must have missed it. I try to catch up with it...

Lotr is always working for a monumental build-up going into the mountains...Mountains, Gandalf. ;)

Ok, to spice up the wait until the break forms, here's a few more conversations overheard at the 2011 TdF:

Reporter to Europcar DS:
Monsieur Rick, what kind of rider is Captain Voeckler?
Oh, he's just like any other rider, only more so.

Senor Ferrari: As the leader of all illegal activities in the TdF, I am an influential and respected man.

Voeckler and Jens:
Voeckler: Don't you sometimes wonder if it's worth all this? I mean what you're fighting for.
Jens: You might as well question why we breathe. If we stop breathing, we'll die. If we stop fighting our enemies, the Tour will die.

About Vaughters:
You give him credit for too much cleverness. My impression was that he's just another blundering American.

Andy and Frank:
A: A franc for your thoughts.
F: In America they'd bring only a penny, and, huh, I guess that's about all they're worth.
A: Well, I'm willing to be overcharged. Tell me.
F: Well, I was wondering...
A: Yes?
F: Why I'm so lucky. Why I should find you waiting for me to come along.

AFLD to Kolobnev:
AFLD: Where were you last night?
Kolobnev: That's so long ago, I don't remember.

Rasmussen:
I'm on their blacklist - their roll of honor!

Senor Ferrari: Might as well be frank, monsieur Voeckler. It would take a miracle to get you out of the alps in yellow, and the AFLD have outlawed miracles.

Another Andy & Frank:
Andy: I can't fight it anymore. I rode away from you once. I can't do it again. Oh, I don't know what's right any longer. You have to think for both of us. For all of us.
Frank: All right, I will. Here's looking at you, kid.
Andy: I wish I didn't love you so much.

McQuaid:
I'm only a poor corrupt official.

About Vino:
He'll always have Paris.

please. Meyer is 22. has shown little climbing ability to suggest he will be a GT star.
At his age schleck had come 2nd @ giro.
Guys like Gesink, Nibbles, Anton etc showed climbing ability in their first season (not talking about GTs), whereas meyer hasn't.
Of course he could devolep differently, but until he does show something being touted as a GT man doesn't sit right with me.
I can name many neo pros whom have shown more in terms of climbing and such.
