Sigh. Once again.

Nieve, the Euskatel domestique came into the climb with a 2 32 minute lead. Usually a 2 minute lead will evaporate quickly on such a clim. Yet Nibali came in 1.56 behind Nieve. They were always around the 2 minute mark behind Nieve. In other words Kreuzigers "super pace" was only sufficient to take half a minute from Nieve, while we would have expected a high pace to catch Nieve.

Which leads us to 2 options.

1 Nieve is a super climber and Euskatel made a mistake giving the leadership to Anton and not him.
Or far more likely 2 - Kreuziger wasnt going as fast as you make out.

Nieve placed between 15-20 in most previous mountain stages. He is no top climber, but not exactly a slug. And Kreuziger is not in top shape obviously

I have no doubt Nieve is a great climber. I still think Kreuziger isnt setting a killer pace when he is being matched by the breakaway guy 2 minutes up the road, all on his lonesome.

And how did it turn on me. Shouldnt we all be kicking the newbie who tried to say Kreuziger has been stronger this Vuelta than Rodriguez :p
