Probably turn into a general thread about the guy which isnt a bad thing, but in the meantime.

Can someone with a knowledge of South American cycling have a look at the palmares I have tried to cobble together from various sources and see if it is accurate, anything missing etc.

http://www.teamskyfans.com/henao.html

Then once its accurate I can put one on his wikipedia page which is currently empty.

here is his palmares although is missing from his u23 and junior years. I could look it up when I have the time. I know he was 2nd I believe twice in volta porvenir, losing both to uran thanks to the timetrial

I can't open the link in your post

ah, thanks for that.

I had looked in a ton of places that had partial palmares. That one looks like it fills in some gaps.

Will work on it tomorrow some more and then post what I have here, then hopefully get his wiki updated later in the week.

Perhaps someone with a knowledge of South American cycling could whittle that list down for me to a wikipedia friendly level. They wont be too impressed with a palmares that long, but Ive no idea what is important and what isnt.

"Colombia", not "Columbia".

If you look up "Columbia" in wikipedia it actually says, "Not to be confused with Colombia, the country in South America."

That's my almost interesting fact for the day.

Obviously a fact about Sergio Henao would be more useful but I don't know any.

I'm guessing that's a youngsters race. How old was he?

Only slightly younger than Chris Horner when he won the same race.

Of course if I remembered the name of the rider who lied about his age i could joke about how he won it when he was 10 but it turned out he was 22.

Ill show myself out.

I believe that was Duarte actually. He won it aged 18 (its for u23s).

Woops got them confused and end up looking stupid.

The year Henao won (2008) he beat Duarte, his team leader, by 14 seconds, after taking the lead off him on the penultimate stage and holding on on the last stage, a 22km mountain time trial. As Henao is 18 months younger, that's pretty impressive.

These are his most prestigious results I think. I have the impression that the Vuelta a Antioquia is the most important of the regional Colombian tours, but I may well be wrong.

He is the youngest winner of the Vuelta Juventud in history;)

henao won clasico banfoandes at age 19, which is incredible against top pro's from venezuela and some from colombia, not really an interesting fact but was a huge step. in juniors he was the "enemy" of uran, they booth stuck out intenseily but uran won most because he was much better timetrialer and also more allround, sprinter, downhiller, unfortunately in recent years uran lost many of those things especially downhil after tour of germany crash, henao has become more allround

Valverde's crazy 18-year old dog is winning races now?
