There is a petition being run with the response sent through to Victorian Police to Investigate Shane Warne for his actions.

Thanks for that. I have signed.

Rather hypocritical of Warnie to call for cyclists to be held accountable for their actions (via registration etc) and yet no action has been taken, so far as we know, in order to hold him accountable for his.

ETA: Just seen the story above about the 'silver volvo'. **** a duck. I hope police follow through with that one too.

Many many years ago (35?), when I lived in the US, a Qantas representative called me on the phone and I answered her questionnaire about my opinion of Australia - she was presumably trying to recruit potential tourists or design future advertizing in the media.

Asked in particular about my general perception of the country, I answered that I more or less imagined it as a copy of the mid-19th century Far West in the US. Maybe it wasn't that much of an exxaggeration!

I can understand your drawing that conclusion when you hear stories like the ones on this thread ... but we're more redneck :)o) or, in the Australian vernacular, "bogan," than Wild West.

It's the interwebs that are Wild West.

Smart lady! I met Bridie in 2004, when doing the TDF tour with bikestyles. Liked her immediately and it's nice to see she hasn't changed with regard to speaking her mind.

I don't know the other guy (sorry guys, I know nothing about cricket) but he seems like all the professional athletes here in the states. Misinformed and supremely confident that his opinion matters more than others.

Unfortunately it seems like some people agree with him. :(

Warne has been *****ing on twitter about QANTAS so this is what a fake QANTAS PR twitter feed tweeted.

We've left @warne888 stranded in Perth. Melbourne cyclists, it's now safe to ride your streets.

:D

What's the latest with the silver vulva ******?

from what i read, the facebook-status was reported to the police, along with the identity of the person who posted it.

not long after the thread was removed from that forum, so i'm thinking the police are involved and have asked that the thread be put out of public view.

that's my guess.

Thanks, I haven't been able to find anything in the media on this. I imagine the guy is boasting and exaggerated about whatever he did, but I'm interested to find the full story.

I don't think that after all Warne has done in the past that public image is a big thing for him so really he may just bite the bullet and give the money to the guy in an out of court settlement even if it does like some sort of admission to wrong doing.

My understanding is that an admission of wrongdoing is one of the things the cyclist wants as part of any out-of-court settlement.

I made the mistake of checking out the Herald-Sun to see the comments of their readers. Unfortunately most of them seem to have missed the fact that Warne was at fault and has been dodging accountability for his own actions, and were banging on about cyclists not belonging on the roads, how they should pay rego so they are accountable etc etc. A depressing read.

Never fear everyone! Eddie Everywhere Everything McGuire has offered to pay for the damage to the poor man's bike. A Collingwood supporter and not surprisingly a Good Samaritan! :p What a great guy!
