If Cav works harder than the rest then why is he such a fat ass in most races that aren't labeled Grand Tour? Guys like Usain Bolt just won the lottery ticket as far as genetics go. All these professionals work about as hard, but some are just much better.

Just because you're born with superior genetics doesn't mean you don't have to train anymore lol. I wonder how you got that out of my post.

How does Usain Bolt do in marathons, steeple chases and other running competitions?

There is a good reason why Cav isn't sent to ride the Tour of Lombardy, or LBL - its the same reason Schleck doesn't ride MSR or Flanders, it does not suit their capabilities.

That is the beauty of events like GT's over events in other sports like athletics.
It forces riders of different capabilities to finish in the same event.

There are few riders who can have legitimate aspirations of winning any GT outright - so for everyone else they target those stages in the event that suits their capabilities, however to do so they have to partake in events that do not suit them.

Uhh, I'm not picking on Cav because he only focuses on sprints? He has superior genetics as far as sprinters are concerned. Not superior genetics in all of cycling(à la Valverde)

I'd bet that on the stage where HTC had to go back and get Cavendish, he suffered as much as anyone on that stage. On the other hand, nobody has it easier than climbers on sprint stages. The only climbers who might suffer on sprint stages are the ones on the team of the yellow jersey and the sprinters' teams.

I alway found it easier to ride at the front in a big field (200) on "flat" stages even though you might catch a little more wind over all...less energy in position battles. Very easy to caught out as gaps open up as the race lights up.

So genetically superior he was forced to dope his entire career? :p

Yup, got to do with having to do more effort than just 200 meters every day. Mind you, he got caught blood doping which is used for recuperation. That has always been Valverde's biggest weak point.
