Did I read that right? Why isn't Phinney in it? What is Cadel thinking not having either there?

(Wrong forum, sorry. Can a mod repost this for me, won't let me delete it.)

Wrong subforum mate.

Just move it to the PRR section.

Phinney raced the Giro (most of it), and he's focused on the worlds TT for the second half of the season so will probably race the Vuelta.

He would be extremely valuable for the TTT but other than that he wouldn't be of much use if at all in a supporting role for a Evans. That role just doesn't suit him. I like Phinney but he's hopless at climbing in the same manner as Kittel.

That's kinda why I was asking...I get that Phinney is concentrating elsewhere, but at the very least couldn't Cadel use him as a domestique?

Evans and BMC prefer the experienced grand tour domestiques of the past few seasons which makes sense. Phinney was ill during the Giro and did not finish the race. I think you will see Phinney in there next year if he keeps progressing and riding like he did in the Milan San Remo. Maybe he will ride the Vuelta to get himself in shape for the World's TT.

the far biggest question is: why was Frank not included?climbs as good as anybody on the team but TjvG and Evans himself.

Vuelta leadership perhaps? If so, that would be nice.

That's the question I want answered. It shouldn't be too much trouble for him to bring the climbing form he was showing in Switzerland to the Tour. Will probably do the Vuelta now, and would be cool to see him in a role of leadership or a free role.

I think BMC should be renamed Evans Racing Team. He seems to get what ever he wants at the expense of all other riders.

No doubt this will happen all the time until Evans retires.

Phinney is not strong enough and Thor has had another rubbish season. He may be coming in to form now but that's too much of a gamble. He's a crap domestique anyway (not that Gilbert is much better).

Well when you win world titles and the Tour and podium 5 grand tours I suppose you do have some pull with team selections. BMC would be making good money out of Evans with bike sales and whatever.

Making money out of Evans with bike sales - maybe in Australia but not Europe.

No such blind loyalty for Wiggins at Sky - for once I think Sky did something right.

Nowhere Mathias Frank is leading a 3 week race. In TdS he struggled so hard to keep with the other boys in that HC climb. PLus, being somewhat of a climber  he did a very poor MTT.

Evans stood on the podium at the Giro, Wiggins didn't even finish the race. Your comparison is useless.

His comparison is about as useless as Evans

Lol, I have to agree. Sorry if I'm not completely up to date here, but why isn't Thor riding for them either? I read the article here, and I know he hasn't ridden well this season, but I still question the real reason as to why he's not riding. Is it because he(Ochowicz)sees him as a threat to Cadel?

It was a choice between either Thor or Phil for the spot on the team. And Phil wears the rainbow stripes, so...he got the spot. Got the spot fairly easily I would imagine.

Good on Thor for showing BMC what they'll be missing at the Tour though. :D

What'd Thor win :) ?
Not sure why no phinney, would've been great in the ttt and on the flat stages for BMC.
Was rather confused as to why they didin't include frank either. He was great at the tds. Bmc don't have that many mountain domestiques in their squad (i think there was only two or three), so having another climbing domestique like frank would make a difference for evans/TJ imo

Norwegian national RR champs. Went solo with 25 km to go and just barely held on for the win.

Phinney has never been a serious and consistent domestique and is also unreliable.
I am surprised they don't want Thor for stage wins but I am guessing since they want to support cadel and TJ that they want just workers.

yeah come to think of it, i haven't heard or seen much of phinney this year. If they want to support TJ/evans why they didn't include frank as a mountain domestique doesn't make sense to me  they have about twice the amount of flat stage domestiques as mountain domestiques. Imo makes more sense to have it the other way round
