it's very simple.

if he gets a blood refill he will ride again with the best, but if he doesn't get topped off during the week, watch as he crumbles before the next rest day.

if he doesn't get a refill today -- then he will shortly be out of the tour. without xtra blood or epo, armstrong at his best was an hour and a half behind...and that was when he was young. his return from retirement was predicated on two things -- that he would be able to blood dope and that the uci would be complicit. i'm sure ferrari and mcquaid/verdruggen assured him of that before he ever would risk returning. if the recent investigations and wada's supervision have truly scared him off the dope then we will witness a guy he who could never climb the big cols...and now he's almost 39...

and he will not finish.

because physically he is not able to finish.

the mental hit he is taking right now is not the crashes, it's the confirmation that he could never be a GC rider without all the blood doping.

This is an excellent point..I don't think LA is topped off properly at all, if he was, he wouldn't of had problems staying on with the front group..He got back on from the RS armchair and still couldn't hold on. Proof he's not done his "preparation". Gotta love Phil's candor.."Armstrong is a broken man"

He may have been so off form they decided to use any banked assistance at the previous two races. This was good for the run-up, presenting the appearance and excitement of strong possibilities. Possibly gamed to gently deflate expectations during the race, have good looking tests, and then let other things play out.

Interesting article, but the best part was one of the reader's comments:

big toro

I have spent time with lance. He's guilty. He's done all Floyd has claimed. GEORGE will fold eventually if offered immunity as he has the most to lose and was always privately bothered by Lance's narcissistic ways. Lance is nothing but a lying sack of ****. He cheated (in every way...on his wife, on Sheryl Crow and all the others) and lived a life full of self entitlement and it will pay painful dividends. The Foundation is less about cancer and more about shielding income and avoiding taxes and keeping his name in the press, as celebrity and fame is what is important to Lance. He'll read this. He may in fact figure out who this is. My moniker is an obvious clue to him. This of course is bothering him, as his luck seems to have run out on the Tour - that's no surprise, given that his head is someplace other than the Tour right now.

one of the replies from "big toro" is amusing..

genuine, or just a crank? Toro of course is bull, so it could just be a big load of bull...

So, after all, Lemond knew something before the tour we all didn´t.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/blogs/greg-lemond/the-art-of-peaking-for-the-tour-de-france

"My Lance Armstrong prediction? Either he will not start or he will pull out just before the race enters France. I have a feeling that the world of cycling is about to change for the better." by Greg Lemond

Ok, he was wrong with the time he´ll quit, but he still came pretty close. I was thinking he couldn´t be more wrong after the strong prologue by Armstrong. Now it seems i was wrong.

P.S.: Omg, i was waiting for this things to happen bsince 1999.

Yeah they're really targeting him. On the eve of the tour he got tested twice from two different organisations, taking five bottles of blood.

It's funny because it's often said that this stuff about Armstrong being "the most test athlete in the world" is just PR spin. But it's probably true now.

Which is the very reason he had to crash yesterday.

Disguised the crack.

Do you think so? Looked like a pretty random accident to me. And if he was done deliberately why didn't he stay down rather than chase back on and have a good crack at the climb before getting dropped?

He quit yesterday! Dead man riding.

He lost 4x more time than Horner did.

He clearly quit the GC race, sat up and sent Horner up the road.

But that's not anything to do with what Lemond said. Lemond said he wouldn't start or would pullout of the race.

Yeah some troll keeps creating accounts to promote his 'comedy' stuff on youtube. (tbh don't know if it's funny or not since haven't watched it, but somehow I doubt it)

But what's got to do with Lemond's comments about Lance pulling out?

Its not funny particularly. You write something, you chuck it in the speech thing and it makes video. if the text was written down it would be about as funny as syphallis.

Yeah I'm too impatient for all that.

Someone keeps setting up accounts when they get banned? Doesn't sound like someone stable in the head. Obviously nothing to do with me.

Actually no, of course it was an accident. He would have cracked had he not crashed though. This discussion is in the clinic. It's been a foregone conclusion for years that the guy is jacked to high heaven. I really don't even take pro cycling seriously which is why I very rarely post in the forum that doesn't allow doping discussion.

A no talent rides for 7 consecutive TdF's with like two semi bad days at most. It's absurd. The Joux Plane was barely a crack brought on by himself, and the TT he finished second to Ullrich. This from a guy who was losing a half hour at a time in the high mountains before he almost died from cancer.

I don't talk seriously about cycling for the same reason I don't talk seriously about pro wrestling or bodybuilding.

I disagree, although i havent seen any of them to the end, was bored within 30 seconds.. Its funny if you find swearing and making incredibly obvious jokes funny. I think its aimed at the american pie demographic. I think us brits are beyond that.

we need a poll :D
