Quit the job, obviously. Travel extensively, buy an old home in Tuscany, maybe an apartment in Manhattan, tinker with bikes, learn to sail, get involved with some charitable organization, and basically do whatever the hell I wanted.

Yes, I think some sort of volunteer work or avocation would have to be incorporated. My father has lived a life of relative leisure for about 15-20 years, he was a smart man, his brains have turned to mush because all he cares about is golf. I have been blessed with a sharp mind, along with my mediterranean remarkably good looks I really need to cherish them rather then fritter them away.

OK, 2nd story of the day. This is a true story. My neighbor used to work on wall street as a technician, it was a miserable job, people were ruthless, none of the glamour you read about. They were the little folk that keep the market action happening. Their boss was a flaming ***, and his co-worker was even more miserable. He hated everything and everyone. (In other words, he was your average new yorker.) The only thing that gave him satisfaction was looking at his lottery tix at lunch and swearing what he would do if he ever won.

My neighbor decided to play a trick on him.

he waited til the pot was huge and there was a winner. That night, he bought the same winning numbers for the following drawing and put it amongst the guys' treasured tix. They watched as he sat and looked at his numbers. He checked and re-checked to be sure he had the winner. He got up, went over to the boss and punched him right in the mouth and walked out.

I also could buy some land and develop it for cycling. Turn it into a crit circuit, with a fully usable club house with male and female locker rooms and showers, and to be used for Sunday races, training rides and for use by the general public. Also build a velodrome and a bmx/mtb/cyco-cross course in there as well. Plant trees and use it as habitat for birds and other animals and in time, a place for Koala's to live.

I would also put money aside for animal conservation groups, and again more land to use as animal habitats, and make it so legally binding that it can never sold off and used for housing development, or challenged in court.

First things first...
1. Set up annuities for my mother and my girlfriend's mother that ensure that they're comfortable for the rest of their lives...the idea is that they get the annuity income, but the principle remains in my name, so everyone's happy.
2. Set up college trust funds for both my children and my girlfriend's children to ensure that they have all expenses and a reasonable income during college, but also make it so that they can get the money when they've finished college and held a job for 8 years. In other words, they have to decide if they want to live a little lavishly during college and have less money later or if they want to have more money later...and yes, I'd still be the trust fund director with significant oversight even during college...oh, I'd do this for my nieces and nephews, too, so add four more!
3. Purchase my home for now; purchase my sister's home; purchase two neighbor's homes...figure out how to grant these houses to them without tax ramifications for them. Oh, and purchase a home for my mother, preferably far away from me!
4. Donate US$10,000,000 to Heifer International
5. Donate US$10,000,000 to The Salvation Army with a stipulation that it goes to social services and disaster relief and not to the church operations.
6. Donate US$10,000,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
7. Get everything updated and fixed in my own home, purchase reasonable furnishings and such...but likely still from Ikea and not lavish because honestly? Having nice things is good, but I'm not all about having ridiculous excess.
8. Purchase Volvo V50 T5 and maybe a Miata
9. Hire an excellent tutor for my kids so that if we decide to travel, we can without impacting their schoolwork...but if they are studying the Roman Empire or the Chang Dynasty , why the heck NOT visit?
10. Look for a homestead of around 10 acres that is build-able and farm-able...

11. Oh, and since it's about to summer, I'd plan a crazy trip wherever we want to go...I'd love to show my kids PRC, Japan, Singapore, India, and Europe...take them where I've been...find new places to visit...here is where I will be lavish to an extent...I will have us travel business class and stay in reasonable hotels...

I've always thought it would be fun to be able to afford to just mess with people. One idea is to go do really bad job interviews. Talk to the interviewer like a pirate(Yar, is it my curricullum vitae ye be needin), dance on his desk, whatever. The opportunities to be creatively twisted are limitless. I'd be doing the interviewer a favour really, he'd have a great story to tell for the rest of his life.
The other thing would be to open up a store that sells only one completely useless product. Just off the top of my head I'm thinking a store that sells nothing but bent nails. Row after row, shelf after shelf of bent nails. I'd call it something like "Maureen's Ladies Wear".
