I asked a similar question to red. Can't say I was satisfied with the reply. It starts on page 39 post 389.

She was definitely somebody and not a bot.

Well the fact that she was a real person makes things a bit more interesting. Not that it is a great conspiracy or anything but what in the hell or HOW in the HELL did they get RR personal info???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

[snipped for brevity]

I agree. After someone called her on her initial post, she had some response that the info was readily available online and she figured everyone already knew who he was and it wasn't a big thing, or something along those lines. Well, funny thing, I googled a few variations after reading that just to see if she was right, and got NO useful results at all.

So, it seems reasonable to think she got her info from somewhere other than where she said she did. And what would her reasons be for revealing it in such an apparently nonchalant way?

So in the end was LauraLyn a sockpuppet...?

This is what most here conclude, has not been clarified by the mods and probably hard to conclude and announce by them. She was certainly knowledgeable on the bigger context at play in the LA/UCI saga, seemed sometimes confused in whether to appear pro/against LA, her real contribution questionable by almost all here, and disruptive yes.

yes for a lifetime.

Was it because LauraLyn had posted the twitter link in their post?
Again unknown because the mods have not revealed. What I know:

Papp did the dirty (obtained RR identity) some time ago. LauraLyn posted it on the clinic. There were subsequent posts she found/concluded it from something on his twitter account. It was during the time everyone was trying to second guess who RR was as his contributions drove much of the content here. The mods then fairly quickly deleted the various posts here. LL took the heat for RR's identity disclosure, and either was the "overzealous bystander" (benefit of the doubt theory) or had alterior motives (sockpuppet theory).

Time to move on. There is no doubt that LA and/or UCI are interested in breaking up the party here. The Papp saga confirms this, and some of the recent new poster contributions seem to confirm this also.

I doubt it was a returning sockpuppet. She knew very little about racing. I got a warning for calling her clueless when she posted that the Alpine Odyssey going unsanctioned was preparation for the Leadville 100 allowing him to race. It was worded such that it was clear she had no idea that the PB100 was held a month ago. The returning trolls at least have knowledge of cycling.

Why was she banned then? It smells like corruption in the moderator system. Remember it was palmerq that banned her. This is the same guy that gave Polish a three month ban for being followed by Armstrong on twitter!

I critiqued (called out?) several of her posts in the Mike thread as being disingenuous, then wrote my concerns to Susan in a PM.

I never thought she was a bot, rather someone posting stuff they had no emotional or intellectual attachment to. An "intern"?

Also the way she wrote was clearly disparaging to an first language English speaker, but not necessarily to others who were answering her legitimately not realising she was taking the mickey.

Thisssssssssss.

There's been more than a few posts (by MarkvW and IWCIJ, for eg) where sarcasm is evident, sans emoticon, but other posters miss it entirely.

Not sure but, the bandit told me via PM that I had 24hours to stop accusing him of being polish. He was mad at me about it.

It appears he/she was Polish.

If so, that would mean Polish's ban would move to permanent status. Dang, I enjoyed countering his posts by mimicking his style...

thanks. i thought so.

i actually kind of liked Polish (when he wasn't annoying the **** out of me) and we got along all right. when he wasn't in über troll mode, he was pretty amusing.

he sent me a thank you pm yesterday when i found the thread to support something he said... short and sweet, but very like Polish when he wasn't dressed up in his persona... i guess i knew then, though, as the thread in question was such a throwaway that anyone remembering it (read: including myself) needs to get a life :D

seriously, though, i'll take Polish over the bot/intern that doesn't know $hit about cycling any day.

especially as his posts were quite a lot shorter, rather than endless drones of nothingness. and the way he posted almost begged not to be taken seriously... cheers, Polish!

Pretty much my sentiments, too.

Are we hitting 100% in this thread. Then look at the posters staying no and give them a chance, its speaks volumes for either the hippocracy or total thick skulls that run this place.

Sockpuppet ???

Just a Heads Up - I had to wikipedia Sockpuppet.

Is it an American term ? I havent heard it used in UK or Europe. Just that us lot over here wont know that theres even a Thread warning of Trolls.

There was a thread once about this term. Its not American at all I think was the final decision but an IT term. I had never heard it either before this forum. Search can be annoying but its out there somewhere if you want to find it.

It doesn't necessarily mean they are trolls though this is usually the case, more like the same poster but using a different online identity to their main account. IE Barrus clearly not a troll but banned permanently because it was discovered he started a "sockpuppet" account.
