Re: The Quickstep Thread

So what is the agenda of Jungels in this Tour? Challenging Meintjes for the new Zubeldia role? He is 13th and I have not even once seen him in the attack. He should rather go for stages then ride for 10th-15th place, this is useless.

Well, they had a pretty successful Tour with 4 stages and probably polka dot jersey. Jungels in the top 10 would have been a bonus, but I think QS is happy overall with the results from the team. Cant wait to see Mas at the Vuelta though. That will be a different show than Jungels for sure!

Think Jungles season has been disappointing. His win in LBL was an amomaly.

His win in LBL is worth more than the whole rest of his career so far, so his season can hardly have been a disappointment.

Yes in time it will be considered a success but not in the present.
Lets wait and see how he fares the rest of the season, shall we. He was a bit unlucky in the spring prior to Liege, with some sickness, so its always hard to judge. Then Liege more than makes up for that.

Jungels tried it the hard way how to ride GC in the Tour. Hopefully, he will not come back this way unless he has improved dramatically. Sometimes you gotta try in order to assess yourself instead of always wondering what could have been etc. In that aspect, this Tour is probably for the better.

I dont see Jungels finishing on a podium in a GT - A top 5 is within his possibilities as well as one week stage races and hilly classics - His issue is whether he can do that at QuickStep.

Re: The Quickstep Thread

Amazing year for them.
Probably the most successful team in history in terms of wins per year, but they still have a problem to find the main sponsor.
I am quite worried about the cycling when the next economic crisis arrives.

HTC won a lot more, but Quick-Step's wins are higher quality.

Is that Barredo in the picture (with all the implications)?

And 20 years ago the Quick-Step cycling team did not exist so if anyone has any idea what 20 years in the hashtag (shudder) refers to I would gladly be enlightened.

Quick Step started sponsoring the Mapei team in 1999, so 2018 it's their 20th season on the sport.
