LoL! Didn't realise Deceuninck is a window manufacturer.
They're… building a house!
:D

Maybe they should have a merger with Bora-Hansgrohe.
It's really amazing how cycling attracts sponsors from building industry in Belgium and neighbourhood. Besides this new company and QS, there is Soudal, Wanty and Groupe Gobert, all those Willems veranda's and Veranclassic, Aqua Protect... Is this perhaps connected with perception that cycling is a working class sport which still remains strong in this part of the world?

The Dutch also have Boels Rentals and Dolmans Landscaping collaborating on one team, Destil sponsor the Parkhotel Valkenburg teams, as title sponsor for the men and secondary sponsor for the women, and Vlasman have a continental team.

So, what you're saying is that if enough teams go together they could actually build a fully functioning house?

Alpecin-Hansgrohe would be a good combination.

That would be hilarious.

By the way, there’s already some obvious (interior design) synergy between Bora and hansgrohe. I read somewhere that they have started some relationship where they are putting some of the other company’s stuff in some of their stores.

I have this crazy idea that it's not really a new development.

Sure, we've read a lot of articles about Lefevere looking for a sponsor - yup, lots of articles. As if their wins didn't grant them enough coverage. Surely no one wants to support the most successful team... (How long it took Vaughters to find a title sponsor last year?)

The last-minute announcement of securing their future created suspense: will they make it? Will they have to sell riders? (See Gaviria to UAE). More articles, more name dropping.

By the way, maybe I've just missed it, but were riders panicking about their future? The possibility of losing their place on the team or taking a paycut? Sure, Terpstra left, which is exactly one big name... and the narrative of 'not being able to keep such an expensive rider' sounds a bit more dramatic and memorable than 'he wants to seek new challenges' or 'he wants to be sole leader at a team' or whatever the usual PR comment is.

The idea of using 'Wolfpack' as a name -> branding. Calling them Wolfpack would give the impression that they are a TEAM, an entity, not just a bunch of riders sponsored paid to wear the name of a company.

And then the anticlimax of announcing a belgian window-making company. I think CN wrote that Lefevere didn't even had to leave his comfort zone. Surely they just didn't notice each other sooner...

Anyway, I'm glad that their future is secure.

Terpstra certainly did not like the offer, nor did Schachmann. So I believe some of the talk is true. Lefevere could not sign (big) contracts a few month ago. Only extension in that period was Lampaert but I dont think he gets the same amount of cash as Terpstra or Gaviria...

If the deal with Deceuninck was completed some time ago like you suggested, why would Terpstra leave? He had everything he wanted at QS. Captain of the best classics team out there and probably a very good contract. Or do you really think that DE is giving him so much more money?

IIRC, Lefevere said it was 50% more. But my memory doesn't serve me that well, lately.

What's happening?

Two weeks without a win! This is the first time this has happened this season!

Normal service resumes in Turkey. Happy to see Richeze get a win, he's normally the set-up guy for others.

I suspect Lefevere has had the sponsor lined up for a while and was negotiating numbers. I suspect Terpstra got a generous offer, but Lefevere didn't see a reason to give anyone a raise, no matter how many monuments they've won for him; Terpstra won't win more races with DE, and Quickstep won't win less races without Terpstra.

True, but it sounds like they still might lose Gaviria and they'll almost certainly win fewer races without him.

Or they'll just send Viviani to the Tour, and he'll win 3 stages. Did you miss what happened to Kittel this year?
