First win after yesterdays Remco exit news🥳

Magnier is really special. He has improved his kick and top speed this year. Today he won by a country mile and he was also clearly the fastest on stage 1, but came from way back and also had to avoid riders in the last bend so had to settle for second behind Koij.

He looks good on the cobbles too. So races like Gent Wevelgem,RVV etc should suit him good. Milano-Sanremo too.

Needs to work on his endurance, but he reminds me somewhat of a light version of MVDP, but he is definitely faster then him in the bunch sprints.

Exciting times ahead🤞

There seemed to be a lot more fuss made over Lamperti when they both joined the team. Has he been injured? Will his contract be renewed as it is up this year?

Wasn’t he going to EF?

He had a promising debut season last year. Struggled with a knee injury this winter and has unfortunatelly stagnated this season. Lacking base and top speed.

Rumours is that he has not been offered a new contract and is going to EF next year.

He definitely has potential in classics and from small group sprints, but this looks like the smart descision for all parties.

Van Baarle transfer confirmed👌 Very good signing to strenghten the classic and GT team👌

Van Baarle is also 33 years old and hasn't had a noticable result since February 2023.

Thats true, but he has been out with a lot of injuries the last two years. Broken collarbone x 2, fractured hip, scapula and hand. His class is undisputed, but ofcourse, like Remco, he needs a longer period without big injuries to get back to top level.

Anyways i think this is a good signing, with his experience he should be a good road captain and role model for up and coming riders in the team, both in training, in the classics and Grand Tours.

So, Magnier's previous trainer had him train a lot on intensity and not on endurance. He supposedly looked like a body builder and it ruined a large part of his spring. In fact, it was Merlier who had to tell him he was overdoing it.

So, how did this guy become this trainer? How on earth did he even get hired by a WT team? How come nobody else noticed this and how come that a young talent like Magnier doesn't get monitored more closely? Looks like the team still didn't learn much from all the mistakes they made with Evenepoel.

After he got a new trainer, Magnier started working on endurance more again, lost muscle and now started winning again.

That's more crazy than the mistakes made with Evenepoel. Development of a sprinter / classics jewel like Magnier is what has been Quick Step's key kill!

Good to see CheckMyPecs doing well for himself.

Not even close. After Evenepoel's Lombardia crash they let him train unsupervised/unmonitored for the most part, a rider of 20 years old at that time with nearly no experience after a near career ending injury, hence doing further damage to his body and injury. He had to again stop riding for a full month, then slowly had to rebuild which set him back an additional 2 months, missing a decent buildup... He was doing rides in March that he should have been doing in December, had they told him to take it easy. And then the first race the sent him to was the giro. They effectively screwed up his entire 2021 season. And then this year they basically repeated those mistakes.

THAT is even worse than what I thought I knew about that 2021 Giro d'Italia cold start!

Part of the problem is that Remco has a very strong personality, and a lot of the people around him are just weak by comparison. Didn't even Lefevere fold when Remco spammed his WhatsApp with Italian (initially Hungarian) flags to let him take part in the Giro? Covid got in the way, and nothing to do with his recovery from the Lombardia crash, but still.
