Currently some riders are racing the Clásica Ciudad de Aguazul not the biggest race but interesting results in the first stage.

Miguel Angel Lopez dominates again he wins the opening (climb) time trial of 9.7 km, in a time of 18.32, Soraca finishes 2nd 1 min 08 down! Bohorquez took 3rd +1.18
The 2nd stage has also been ridden but I have not found the results yet, if anyone has then please share!

The reason I make this post however is for Miguel Florez, a name that I not have seen on this forum yet (I want to start the hype!). Florez is a 2nd year junior and the juniors rode the same course in 19.50 whichs means he would have been 3rd among the pros.

Florez is a pure climber, 1.75 big and weighs only 55 kilos. His riding reminds me a lot of Miguel Angel Lopez, he is an aggresive rider and climbs like an angel. He has won a lot of races and only started racing when he was 15 years old (see http://tomorrows-champions.blogspot.nl/2014/05/miguel-florez-i-want-to-win-vuelta-del.html (a small interview with Florez from Jakob747 from this forum)). Florez is also working with the same staff as Lopez does, which is maybe not a very good thing.

He has been winning a lot of races but he has not ridden against the other big talents (Martinez, Paredes, Montoya, Restrepo) from Colombia much. In about a month Vuelta del Porvenir will start and it will be a great battle between the riders mentioned above. My money is on Florez though!

another signing will probably be camilo castiblanco,.

it seems that the cyclist are waiting their salaries since 4 months and pro conti status has not been confirmed yet.

I wouldn't start the hype yet. this is very common in colombia to have a 16-17 year old fly harder than pro's in a 10 km stage/climb. he does not show any resistancy. 5 years ago there was luis lopez escobar who beat ALL climbers in trapadores santa helena like ortega, and he's nowhere anymore because he could not follow in any piece of flat in colombia and once he improved in that his climbing started to suck not to mention he could never survice races past 100 km

Florez is build like a real climber but he can more then hold his own in the flat, he has also won flat ITTs this year. And he has no trouble with the pace on the flat in the races he is riding (although Europe might be different). Of course it is still early and hard to say how far he can go but I think he is really talented. Porvenir will be a great battle between him, Paredes, Martinez, Montaya, Gomes and Restrepo.
