January 25, Stage 3: Estancia Grande - Mirador del Potrero 168.2km
Coming into the race, Contador said he didn't see himself as being a factor in the overall situation of the race because he was overweight. Overweight or not, he was still able to perform as well as he usually does on the first climbing stage of the Tour de San Luis which was a summit finish, winning it. Levi Leipheimer is also showing good form so far, being the only one that was able to follow Contador's finishing move. Looks like he's just not the usual wheelsucker everybody says he is.
The finale was something that people would have expected given the names that were on the startlist for the race. Vincenzo Nibali, Alberto Contador and Michael Ramussen were amongst the biggest names fighting it out for the win on the final climb of the day.
As for the home crowd, they had a rider to cheer for. Daniel Diaz from the San Luis Somos Todos team was also in the select group at the finish, and finished 12 seconds back on Contador.
Shocker or not? Giovanni Visconti rounded out the top 10, crossing the line 35 seconds after Alberto Contador did.
