good news:
cancellara gave himself some breathing room when it comes to the topic of motorized assistance.

bad news:
cancellara now has to back to answering harder questions about pharmacological assistance.

No, actually he doesn't because he has never had to answer the question. You only have to answer that question once you have delivered a positive doping result. So what other questions are you referring to?

Sometimes the guys who win do so because they are actually better than the other guys:rolleyes:

You have to love it when you get a bunch of guys who would struggle to put out more than 200 watts on a good day, bagging arguably the best one day rider in the world.

yeah yeah he must have a motor...

I do think thats a bit rich from an obvious fanboy. Especially when you have no idea about the posters in this forum. I can only say that I max out at 6.1W kg. Im a climber. Thats not pro, but I would put ten bucks on it being more than a fan boy. *wink*

More importantly though, the abilty for someone to analyse and apply criticism is what is more important to this forum. One's power output has nothing to do with that. If alll you can do is come back with cheap shots, you are not contributing to reasonable debate, which is what the forum is great for.

6,1 w kg whatever doesnt qualify you to judge who is on doping just BY WATCHING YOUR TV...like in other thread some dummies already saying they will stop watching TdF because its obvious LA is doped again...how can anyone say who is on doping sitting at home watching TV?whats wrong with you ppl?

cancellara was just strongest on the day ,get over it

if cancellara had a motor, why wouldn't he go for the GC? in fact, i expect to see all sorts of previously unknown domestiques riding away from Contador in a swarm of buzzing noises reminiscent of the World Cup :)

I never said my power output had anything to do with my abilty to look at riders and judge their programs. I was merely commenting that it is hasty to make a dig at posters in the forum when there is a chance they would wipe the floor with you.

As for being an armchair critic of cancellara, personally I'm not a massive fan of him but I'm also not willing to judge him as having used a motor. It is posts that point out the how he seemed to move to press a button before suddenly taking off during PR and other such details that are constructive.
If we all made our minds up about who was doped and who was not by watching TV, then we wouldnt bother to actually have the clinic. This is a forum for people to share their viewpoints regarding doping and offer their own educated opinions with others. I like to see what other people think about who is on what. If you dont, then why would you bother to post in the forum?

i was once like you. the doping veil was starting to lift and i decided my stance would be "only an analytic positive equals doping". that will be my approach. had it all figured out for about a week. sadly it's just mentally lazy and doesn't hold up over time. many suspensions are actually the result of law inforcement and not doping controls. the tests, even an expert like ashendon admits, are too far behind. there are no shortcuts. you have to investigate. you have to think for yourself. you have to quit putting athletes on a pedestal and your hero worship must stop. as the saying goes, "rationality belongs to the cool observer." i enthusiastically follow the sport as a whole but am very cautious about the individuals within it.

a bit off topic but worth mentioning. your comment on wattage belies more ignorance. 200 watts over what duration? even a novice can achieve that figure over a short period of time.

1. Firstly you criticise me by saying i have no idea about posters on this forum then you puff your chest out about your own power output and want to bet me ten dollars that it is more than mine when you don't know me?? Just a slight problem with the consistency of that rationale...

2. Actually the perception of power has a lot to do with it. Cancellara has been displaying his ability to ride away from bunches for years, he is far from being just a time trialler. The stupidity of the motor accusations did not find support from any of the other riders and particularly not Boonen. (maybe he had one as well, but his battery went flat!!) To the casual observer and average club rider, the acceleration did look fast but only because they struggle to put out anywhere near the sustained power to do similar.

3. yes I am a FC fanboy and happy to be one. That being said, there is no reasonable debate on this topic because it has been discredited by every knowledgable commentator in the sport. it only lives on in minds such as your own who can only watch in awe and wonder; "why can't I ride like that?" "I know, he must have a motor!"

Firstly the 200 Watts comment was a **** take, not serious.

Secondly, I am glad you are enyoying life without the veil, enjoy the Tour. I am sure that whoever wins, they will only add to your suspicions.:)

Hmm, that was my first thought, but have you noticed how the BB is quite flared on the new Specialized's? This is obviously creating lift, which when coupled with the helium in the tyres and the motor in the frame, creates the impression of flying.

The danger of course is losing traction and generating significant wheelspin which would negate the aids. Sources from within the Saxo camp have stated that once Cancellara is up over 70km/hr the noise from the motor is totally obscured by the wind noise, thus reducing suspicion from spectators as he goes by them. Apparently though they have had issues with smaller children being sucked into the vortex behind the bike and then being run over by other team riders behind. They are working on that issue with a new helmet which has a baffle on the back to divert airflow towards nearby windfarms.;)

So does that mean that you weigh 130 lbs and can sprint at 360 watts?

So it was Cancellara's fault that the dog got sucked out onto the road on stage 1
