When the tour ends every year and I need to watch some more cycling, I get out the vcr tape of vino winning on the Champs. That makes everything better.

2. If you're going to dress up and look like a fool that's your choice, but don't carry or wear anything unwieldy that you might trip or dangerous if you fall or run into someone.

reminds me of that idiot texan with the huge stag horns. I was sure he was going to stab someone (be it rider or spectator)

I dont mind the runners providing they do it in a safe manner. It all adds to the spectacle. It crosses the line however if the runners come within arm distance of the riders.

The scary thing is, the ones that get the closest usually look intoxicated. Is there any sort of alcohol bans on GT's?

ya, up until now, this has been me trying to be diplomatic, respectful and avoid hyperbole and fear-mongering! lol ;)

I'm a bit surprised you haven't come in guns flaring after the crazyness of stage 2 of Colorado...
Unless of course I can look forward to see some crazy guy yelling at everybody behaving like fools (make that 99% of the spectators)

Seriously! That what happened there was just outrageous!:mad::mad:

There was one section on the last climb where Sutherland had a camp counselor and his camp kids running along side in their camp shirts; probably band camp. Colorado folks are among some of the most desperate poser copycat fans in the sport what an embarrassment

the biggest dooosh was the dude in his bright blue POC mountain bike helmet on miles from his bike just running behind the camera bike. At least he didn't endanger a rider. I know that dude too. .

I hate to say it, but the running alongside of the riders on the climbs seemed worst than other grand tours and big climbs in Europe.

I was cringing at little kids running next to them...all it takes is a little trip, bump, and crushed by a 800lb motorcycle and dead.

Great parenting and supervision!!!

That is the problem with granola heads, "You can't inhibit little Jimmy to explore the wonders of the world and experience life." Says the idiot parent....and "Please stop using Red markers on their homework and tests when they get an incorrect answer. Red invokes a negative reaction and could potentially cause mental harm that will last a lifetime."

I'm sending a friend request to you right after this reply zig... granola heads! genius!
Unfortunately, as cyclists, most of us have just a tad wee bit of granola head in us..."I ride my bike to work to save the environm...uh, I mean because I want to be healthy. Yeah That's it!"

Riders should get a 10 second time bonus for every one of these bozos they punch. Double if the punch draws blood (inspired by the NHL's standard for high sticking ;) ).

Don't know what happened to the guy punched by Contador in last year's Tour (see my avatar). Not that the 10 sec bonus would have helped him in anyway either :(

I meant that is the sense of what kind of parent/adult supervisor of children to allow them to run alongside the road of bike race in action with motorcycles etc...

It just struck me as a typical Coloradoan, Oregonian or Utahan adult/parent who thinks this is sensible and their line of thinking in general.

Just put something like this up, and the problem should be solved! :D

I'm not a supporter of people being tasered but I do think running alongside cyclists is pretty stupid.

I know that a lot of people here laud the Syringe Guy who got pushed by Lance into a snowbank, but the guy probably got what he deserved, not because he was making a statement, but because he was a moron for running alongside.

It's dangerous and I'm sure it's bloody annoying for the riders. But on the other side. It's been quite a while since spectators physically interrupted or had an impact on the stages which leads me to the opnion that is: let's leave it as it is.

If anything, they could remove or reorganise the motorbikes in front of the peloton. Perhaps 7-9 could do instead of 10-12? (admitted, I do not know exact amount of motorbikes but you get the idea..) They are imo the main danger for both the spectators and riders.
